I actually have considered writing more of Ranboo in misery meat, but for the most part it wouldn't be all that interesting. The most interesting thing would be that techno would end up liking Ranboo a lot more than Ranboo likes him. This is because Ranboo is an easy to care for easy to empathize with kid who drops hard into fawn response, and Techno actually finds eir background even more relatable than Tommy’s (its implied but not directly stated in misery meat, ranboo is being raised by eir grandparents because eir mom struggles with substance abuse, as did Techno’s parents) on the other hand Ranboo is fully aware that Techno killed eir grandparents, and can't ever forgive him for that.

For the longest time, I truly believed I couldn’t have DID because I “didn’t have amnesia”.
Now, in my mind, amnesia meant everything sort of went black and you’d come to days later without a clue of what had happened or where you were. And while, that absolutely can be the case for some— it wasn’t for me.
Amnesia for me is much more complex. The gaps of memory I loose are patched together by the things that I do remember. My mind may omit half the day, but because I can remember the other half, it doesn’t feel as if I’ve lost any time truly. My mind worked overtime to hide how much time I was loosing, simply because if I knew, I don’t think the past version of myself would’ve handled it very well. </3
I suppose all this is to say that how amnesia presents itself is much more complex than most realize, especially when your brain is trying to protect you in its own weird way. It took me a long time to understand its true face… Q_Q
The older i get the more i understand why some people become obsessed with privacy, not because they’re hiding something, but because being constantly perceived starts to feel spiritually exhausting.
Did you know that soda machines at restaurants and movie theaters spy on you? That most common new cars now record your sexual preferences and send it to the manufacturer (and also data about anyone who also gets in your car, walks by your car, and maybe happens to be within visual range of your car)? That grocery stores are trying to force customers to download an app to scan barcodes on shelves instead of putting up prices, so the app can scan the phone, decide how much that customer should be squeezed for, and adjust the price? That more and more innocent people are being sent to jail for crimes committed hundreds of miles away because an AI facial recognition algorithm spit their faces out and the cops didn't bother to do the most basic of checks?
I am not uptight about privacy because I'm hiding something. I'm uptight about it because the people who dismiss my right to privacy are dangerous to you and me and our families, personally, all the time.
And often, they are assholes, too.

There was never going to be a world where Tommy didn't try to escape the moment that he had half a chance, that's just who he is as a person.
There is though, a world where Techno didn't kill Tommy’s foster parents. There is, though, a world where Techno killed a different couple. They were older, landlords, owned quite a few properties in the area, enough that one might accuse them of rent fixing. He would have killed them and then been quite upset to find that care for their grandchild.
It is still Technoblade though, and he would never kill some teen, so he would pack em up just like Tommy and take em home and he wouldn't hear a peep of complaint from em. Ey would make offers of course, to save eir life, money, valuables, and of course, sir silence, but Techno can't accept any of it.
He would take em home and feed em and ey would ask about the meat in the soup, ey're allergic to red meat you see, and Techno is forced to sit there on the floor of his living room and look up alpha-gal syndrome, the light of his phone and the light of the fire catches on the kid's face and Techno wonders what the hell he's doing and what the fuck his long term plan is.
Alpha-gal syndrome, he finds, is not really a red meat allergy, it's an allergy to non-primate mammal meat. All the meat Techno has will be fine to feed em.
He assures the kid that ey can eat the food.
He has supplies to buy and he sets up the poor kid with a movie to watch and a book to read and he drives to town. He drives to town and he picks out clothes for a freakishly tall kid and a new toothbrush and rope thats going to be softer than what he has now and drives back and all the while he thinks about what that kid is probably getting up to, have ey escaped from the rope? Are ey wandering the property? Are ey hiding out from Steve? Are ey trying to set a hare brained trap to catch Techno?
He pulls back into the driveway and doesn't even bother with the garage, he sprints back to the house and- there the kid is, still on the couch, looking up at Techno with shock and fear and of course, what else was Techno expecting?
He makes dinner for the two of them that night and the kid picks at it and asks if Techno is ever going to let em go.
"Just eat your dinner Ranboo," he tells the kid.
"Yes sir," Ranboo says back.
Techno sits there with a silent table and a kidnapping victim he doesnt need to fight and wonders again, what the fuck is he going to do.

So some fanartist drew a “sexy” (read: booby) version of a (cartoon) character who is traditionally very non-sexualised. Fans of the character got mad about it because it’s kind of groundbreaking how that character is written and portrayed and this art totally ignores the entire point of the character. They demanded the art be deleted. In response to that other people said, well what the fanartist did may be distateful but they have every right to draw what they’re into. The two sides fight for days and each starts a harassment campaign and even report their “opponents’” accounts.
So far so typical. But things eventually come to a head and they decide that this will be settled by votes - not through a poll. Through donations to a children’s education charity via each side’s portal. Whoever can get the highest amount of donation wins.
And that is how this charity received over 1 million in donations in three days lol. Oh btw the “freedom of expression” side won by a landslide (960k to 40k)
Analyzing the politics of a work that's meant to be apolitical is actually a really interesting exercise because it asks you to critically examine what the creator considers to be "political" in the first place. Which ideas are just How Things Are, and which ones are Political, and how is that influenced by the creator's beliefs?

I went outside and got an education, that's where I learned that you can obtain knowledge and insight through analytical methods, then noticed that some people who sit on the internet yelling at strangers get really mad about that constantly.
So actually if you really wanted to use your analysis skills you'd realize that what people are annoyed about is the implication that there's never a story or creative work they can create that can escape people like you attempting to assign political meaning to it when they just don't want that. That in fact people's presumptions about life are not, in fact, political (at best they are cultural, which is not an inherently facet of politics). And that by you people arrogantly pushing this idea you are intruding on the fact that a lot of people use fiction as escapism from politics and insisting that "urm no actually your favourite cartoon actually has politics cause no human being is 100% unbiased" is in fact, supremely fucking annoying
"Stop having fun wrong, it ruins my fun when you have fun wrong, it's not enough for me to just scroll past the analysis I don't like, if anyone anywhere is saying that the cartoon exists in a political context that's undermining my enjoyment of it!"

Just watched Adam Conover (of Adam Ruins Everything) make such a solid point that I think we should spread far and wide. Yes, having AI write your emails is lazy, sure, but people love being lazy. We need to really emphasize that sending AI emails (or using AI responses on social media, or publishing AI flyers, or or or) is rude.
It's rude. You're making someone take their time to read something you couldn't bother to write. You're telling them they were so unimportant you couldn't be bothered to actually take the time to say something yourself. And frankly, you're lying about it while you're at it.
It's rude.
The above is doubly true if the content of the email is something that will be important to the person receiving - especially something that affects them negatively. They see that this thing that affected them so much didn't matter enough to you to write it yourself. I was a bystander to such a thing not long ago and it was just awful.
i think one of the worst things the left wing internet ever did was push the idea that oppression is basically a virtue, and being oppressed is a sign of your morality. it has made it like…impossible for some of you to hold the idea that most people are privileged in some ways and oppressed in others. AND a lot of you seem to have it in your mind that terrible people cannot be oppressed, and that oppressed people cannot do terrible things, which is a dangerous rhetoric to hold imo.
