Found a few more of these 1940/50s Honeywhip jars to round out the color spectrum. Alas, I don't think violet was ever produced. Now that they're out of reach of the cats, I can get some air plants for them to add a bit more cheer in this guest/exercise room window.
Air plants aquired!
Lady in drive through had a bearded dragon sitting on her boobs and she held it up and let me pet it. killing myself canceled
art is not my strong suit but this is my best recreation of what i saw when i opened the window. i have to emphasize that she was supermodel levels of gorgeous
Translator? Why not trans now?
My parents just read this post aloud to me and asked me if Iβd seen it. I donβt know how to react.

facts about myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME/CFS) to combat the disinformation campaigns going on:
what does the name mean? my = muscle. algic = pain. encephalo = brain. myel = spinal cord. itis = inflammation.
ME is classed by the WHO as a neurological disease. the Decode ME study found immune and neurological genetic markers in its analysis of 15,000 subjects.
ME is more complex than just fatigue. many experts and patients dislike the old name βchronic fatigue syndromeβ because fatigue is only one part of the condition, and itβs the least unique trait.
the most unique trait is post exertional malaise, where, 24-72 hours after any exertion outside the patientβs limits, thereβs a peak of worsening and new symptoms affecting multiple bodily systems. PEM often involves immune activation, such as sore throat and a low fever, and a loss of muscle recovery after exertion, measurable through CPET testing. (normal muscle recovery takes 200 mins, but muscle recovery in ME takes days, with some patients taking longer than a year to recover from a single exertion.)
ME can range from mild to profoundly severe. these severity levels are only within the context of ME, not general illness; βmildβ ME is still a severe illness as it includes a 50% loss of functioning. βmildβ ME can feature debilitating pain and complex symptoms and can turn basic activities of daily living into a marathon.
severe ME is (naturally) even more physically limiting than mild ME. people with severe ME are largely bedbound and only rarely able to leave their room in a wheelchair, and usually canβt perform their own care tasks, needing help dressing, washing, and eating.
in very severe ME, the person may be unable to leave bed at all and may not be able to speak, swallow, roll over, sit up, read, or be exposed to light or noise, for years or decades.
ME has a measurably lower quality of life than any other illness studied, including cancer and stroke.
finally, many of us can attest that exertion can cause years of deterioration and loss of functioning in ME patients. ive been 95% bedbound for the last decade bc of ONE WEEKEND where i walked too much when i was 15. im 26 now. and ive known so many people who went through something similar. do with this info what you will.
today, 8th august, is severe & very severe ME awareness day. it was chosen to honour sophia mirza who died of severe ME. please consider and remember us today π
It really says something that a lot of monogamous people consider polyamorous and aromantic to be "opposites" but every polyam person I know took one look at aromantics and said "they're just like me for real"
Poly folks x aro folks in the sense that "alloromantic heterosexual monogamous people view love and sex as an entirely different entity than me, and that makes life kinda strange"
official aro-polyam solidarity post
Yup returning to necromancy, Iβm so back. And youβre so back, and youβre so back, and youβre so back, and youβre
Oh, to be a little kitten who just got vaccinated and then taken to a high-end restaurant and tasted the best food the chefs could offer and then fell asleep in a basket.
James Ortiz really out here saying, "We had to figure out how to portray emotion in a rock through physicality, I hope we can do it"
And then you have scenes like, Rocky is telling Grace the Eridian scientists are ready to work on the Hail Mary to take him back to Earth, and you can tell he's nervous to tell him this by the way he shuffles his claws in the sand, almost like he doesn't want tell Grace, because he doesn't want his friend to leave but knows its his choice, so when Grace says he wants to think about it, he perks up and says 'take as long as you need', not just because its a big decision, but he wants his friend to stay even if its a little longer and the fact that he's not choosing to immediately leave makes him happy
I believe (based on clips I've heard) Rocky does express this in the book to Grace, ("Speaking selfishly, I hope you dont go" - something like that) but they didn't need to have him say that in the movie, cause you could tell by his body language
So yes, James Ortiz and Rocketeers, you did a fucking great job!

this is how new yorkers @ mamdani
ITβS LITERALLY HAPPENING LMAOOOOO
do people with dark eyes know they won the lottery
it has been said a million times but every now and then I still get so emotional about how girls and young women legitimately run the music business with their tastes and still everything they like gets ridiculed and dismissed as frivolous. watching a boy band documentary rn and like yeah. the beatles would be nothing without adrienne from brooklyn. genuinely nothing

the persecution of lefthandedness is insane to think about because it was so intense for so long, in some places still is, without any clear profit motivation. sheer love of the game. as late as the 70s at least they were smacking my stepdad's hands for it with a wooden ruler at school, to this day he's in weird ambidexterity situation where he's not great with either side and notably clumsy due to poor hand-eye coordination. just wtf
It is fascinating to me that people also think of handedness as an example of bigotry that just...went away. As you note, it...hasn't in some places. I know people who grew up in the mid-late 90s who still had this problem.
But also, and this is really important to keep in mind regarding bigotry that still causes in many ways larger problems, that the structural problems are not actually fixed.
If you go to any computer lab or public library, the mice will be on the right side of the computer. Sometimes they can be moved. Sometimes they can't. Many computer mice are curved to only fit in right hands.
It is impossible to find lefthanded scissors without going to a specialty store, because most scissor makers don't even make them. And it's not just a matter of grip; the slicing side of the blades is obscured if you use righty scissors in your left hand, so your cut is off.
All those signing pads with the little chained styluses? Almost always on the right side, often not even long enough to stretch to the left. Makes signing for lefties extremely difficult.
I caused actual muscular problems in college having to twist around in order to write at right-handed desks in college when there weren't enough lefty desks--and there never were. Some classrooms didn't even have a single one.
I could go on.
But the point is, bigotry isn't just a mindset shift. People can't just decide they're not bothered by that particular difference anymore and everything's fine, because society is still structured and designed to cause problems for marginalized people. And they're never even going to notice all the little ways their life is bent to convenience them that inconveniences others.
