So my summer was normal at first then I got kidnapped into a Facebook mom catholic group that hates praying emojis with red sleeves, I'll get my heart broken because I devoted too much time into the Facebook cult and willingly agree to use my heart as an experiment, I go up up up but it's just a mad of nothingness and I realise death is boring so I go through 1000 trials to be resurrected just in time to confetti to pop into my face right as school starts and I realise I should've just stayed in that nothingness for a while longer
Life series watcher headcanon (but different I swear)
Headcanon I came up with while replying to one of @venus-pearls comments (thanks for the inspo) and is also loosely inspired by a line I read in @starlitnight864 's ddmau!
So basically the life series wasn't actually created by the watchers.. they just took over from whatever force started the games. Each game has an "intended winner" which is the person who would've won if the watchers hadn't run interference on them. There are also "planted winners" which are the watchers' intended winners for each game. Some games the watchers succeeded with their plants by cursing or otherwise hindering intended winners and sometimes the intended winners managed to win anyway despite the setbacks. The watcher plants often were completely innocent in all of this, as most of the time their reasons for being planted were as punishments for themselves or their loved ones 'crimes'
different season's analysis under the cut
Third life: third life's intended winner was.... Jimmy! ... yeah work with me here. Basically the entity's who started the games weren't cruel like the watchers, just bored and looking for some entertainment, and if the game had been allowed to play out under their rule, Jimmy would have won. Most intended winners are picked because the entities lached onto them and their storyline emotionally. However the watchers took over, and planted Grian as a winner to punish him for running away and shedding his watcher identity. They achieved this by burdening Jim with the canary curse, which they never intended to let break (I'll explain this part later)
Last life: Scott was the Intended winner for last life! The watchers intended to plant Pearl for similar reasons to Grian, and tried to stop Scott's win by giving him the boogeyman curse...let's just say that didn't work. their plan was for Scott to never have made it to the final battle, as if he hadn't nobody would've suggested splitting up, and Ren and Pearl would've teamed up to take out Martyn and Pearl would've had the element of surprise when she turned on Ren (as well as some watcher given strength), resulting in a very fucked up pearly pop win, maybe even moreso then double life.
which brings us to.. Double life: our double life intended winner was long since forgotten by everyone, as whoever they were, they never even made it to the final four. the original entities did not like the divorce quartet one bit, as their main aim for double life was romance and fluff. Pearl was planted again, this time both as punishment for being a run away watcher and Grian's sister, and for failing to win last life (as if that was her fault). The watchers were taking no chances with their plant this time, so they took full kind control of Scott (which the usually avoid doing as it's less fun when they obey, but it was neccecary this time) and basically made him fuck up pearls season til she won.
Limited life: you guys might've guessed this but LiL's intended winner was none other than ImpulseSV! yeah the entities were doing pretty well right up until the end weren't they? this is because the watcher intended to let them have this one. both of their plants has been planted and they had no plans to ruin limited life, instead using their mind control to help the entities get their intended to the finale, because it suited their agenda. enter : Martyn! (this is the part where I start bullshitting a bit cause idk listener lore feel free to help me fix this) being a listener Martyn was able to break the watcher mind control and poach the win, because he'd seen what had happend to Scott, Pearl and Grian after their wins, and didn't want to put Impulse through that. (the entities by this point knew their intendeds would face torture and just general misery even if they made it to the finale, but they didn't care, they never really cared as long as they had something interesting to watch.) he'd thought being a listener would save him from that fate anyway (he was wrong)
Secret life: intended winner Geminitay! yeah if the entities had their way that 2v1 never would've happened. their intended finale was Pearl sacrificing herself to gem (under mind control obviously because she'd never want to put gem through what she'd been through) for the romantic love story the people in the sky craved. the watchers, however were much less romantic, and instead intended to use their plant to crush another love story that'd been forming steadily in the background. Scar wins the 2v1 by killing gem, pearl walks herself off a cliff happily under mind control, and Grian is left crushed by the realisation that his love has now joined the ranks of the winners. that is the watchers idea of a good ending!
(interlude: the canary curse is broken: Lizzie was brought into the games as punishment for her abuse of admin powers in kingdom craft, but because of her past life as a powerful ocean goddess, she did not succumb to watcher mind control. using this to her advantage, she threw herself into the end, breaking her brother's curse, and allowing him to slowly regain the power he would've has in third life without it)
Wildlife: Joel is the plant here, there is no doubt about it. he's much too brash and competitive to be an intended. He was planted as a punishment to his wife, for her actions last season that really pissed the watchers off, and his plant succeeded (obviously) making him the first winner to genuinely enjoy the finale without any mindcontrol needed (he was mind controlled into the finale but once he got there they found that with Lizzie dead, letting him loose would be much more interesting as he was out for blood and didn't care who's it was). The entity intended winner is unknown, probably Cleo or Ren, but the entities lost interest in them as soon as Joel got to the finale, and they stopped putting any effort at all into protecting their intended. Grian tried to reason with Joel in the finale and take the win for himself to control the spread of planted winners, but it didn't work and he got pushed off a tree for his troubles.
Past life: the canary curse has been broken, and with Jimmy slowly regaining his powers (see also: himmy) the entities decided to back him as their intended for past life. The watchers, seeing how well their scar secret life win has worked in crushing Grian's spirit, intended to do the same with their past life plant, who was, you guessed it, Gem! Gem kills Jimmy, Grian pushes her off the square hole, again to stop the spread of planted winners, and Martyn poaches the kill again because he doesn't trust another win in (technically) watcher hands.
that about all I got so far, if anyone has any ideas on how to expand or use this in anyway feel free to yap in the comments I wanna hear your guys opinions <3
Yeah I felt really smart coming up with all of those. it was very satisfying how well they all fit with minimal effort. (yeah they're actually just us fr. I'd like to name them actually I just don't know what. any ideas?)
