So if there's enough shadowy spaces, I can get enough to hold the weight of a human." With the way Raven spoke, he just sounded normal. He'd been hiding things from Damian for a long time, it wasn't difficult anymore. Besides, Damian was never the brightest...

[They squinted at him before looking up at Damian again with their arms extended to pull him back down, fingers splayed out and wrapping around his shoulders once he was a little within arm's length. Collette held him like a baby, which he is to them, one arm around his back and the other supporting the back of his legs. There wasn't anything wrong with them in particular; they may have just heard the stuff Archer reported back to them the minute the conversation in the forest was over... and may have gotten uneasy afterwards.]

"Okay... at least it's all fun and games?" [they chuckled, their hand patting Damian's back, glancing down at him before at Raven. Because whatever it is the blonde girl said to them, whatever Archer said?]

While Damian was talking, Raven walked over to a dresser to set his book down. He was trying to seem more chill on the outside, but he really was still thinking about his little meet with Chouma in the forest.

"Yep, all fun and games... We're just messing with his powers because he never does and doesn't know how to control them well." Damian pointed to the shadows that seemed to always curl around Raven's feet, growing noticeably when he was feeling negative. Much to his dislike, it reflected his lack of control quite a bit.

[There's something weird either about the shadows or Collette themselves, but they seemed on the defensive side with the way they squeezed Damian tightly. Not too tight that it hurt, but the grip was visibly tightening with their knuckles getting a little paler.]

"Everywhere, yeah, I see that on the floor right near you." [Powers flaring up because of feeling negative emotions, it's happened to them as well. It's noticeable that something was bothering him, and they could only guess what... and to be honest, this entire revival thing was bothering them too, but not for the same reason.]

"Oh, I honestly forget about those sometimes." He reached down, watching the shadows slowly crawl up his fingertips. It's as if his fingers were magnetic, and the shadows were ferrofluid. Raven himself seemed interested in them, curious, as if they weren't basically an extension of himself.

"Still, be careful around them before they chomp you or something..." [They put Damian down afterwards, further from the shadows by a bit. That answers the previous conclusion, honestly, that the problem was Collette and how they're acting weird. It says a lot about how much influence Archer can put on others, to be honest.]

[But also because everything else feels so uncomfortable for them, they physically can't relax with what's going on right now. The revival was a wave of shock enough; it was a jab in the heart to see the way he didn't and couldn't love them the way he used to. And it definitely didn't sit well with them with how Archer was the one running this whole thing.]

"I don't think I'm a ray of sunshine, I think I'm the sun. Like, the whole thing." Damian replied, grinning.

"Yeah, we should stick you in a human sized hamster ball," Raven commented, glancing up for a moment. "It can be your atmosphere. Keep you from burning people or somethin." Damian laughed in reply.

The purple haired boy hummed, continuing to mess with the shadows. "I actually don't think these will hurt people, not naturally at least. Not unless I want them to. But if I'm leaving them alone, they just sit there... Plus, it seems like they're scared of other people?" He paused, then rolled his eyes as if everything he'd just said was nonsense.

Really, those little things did reflect him in many ways. Allowing themselves to get close to people, while never actually relaxing, letting guards down. There was always some small distance between everyone else. It could explain why there were so many things Raven couldn't bring himself to tell Damian, even if he wanted to. Because,

He would never fully relax. One day, he'd leave camp, and all of the friends he made there would go their separate ways. Damian would find letters in his drawer, and then he'd leave too. He'd be alone, with just the shadows to keep him company, just himself. In another world, it didn't end that way, and he was surrounded by his loved ones, because he'd relax, be more open, honest. It just wouldn't be this one, and really, it was at least a little bit his fault; he wouldn't open up, ever.

It was simple. If you don't sleep, you'll always be tired. If you don't eat, you'll never be full. When would he be satisfied?

"Coco would've loved to see the sight of that thing, to be honest... bunnies are literally their spirit animal and favorite animal." [Talking about Coco would bring the shine back into their eyes; it usually would... but now their eyes remained as dull as when they arrived here.]

[Both what Raven and Damian said to them went over their head completely, looking at the bunny and connecting it with their spouse causing them to blink once at the thing. It's reasonable that everyone's been acting up lately; bringing back someone from their grave wasn't ever a sane thing to go through. The issue is just that they never buried him; there wasn't a grave with his name on it. They physically touched a cold body, gloves having run out by the time they were even doing it.]

[He felt cold; it felt gross, knowing that some of his bones weren't in place regardless if Archer even tried to use some power to fix them. She, naturally, did not experience its effects, telling Alabaster to fill the pool up with what he and his other siblings created. That being said, Coco...? That made their blood run cold at the core memory of it.]

[They were afraid at first, genuinely terrified when in the process of restoring his soul back. But then came the part where they slowly went from being afraid of this thing to becoming... obsessed with the entire thing. And Coco had an unhealthy obsession with Luke from the beginning, so them getting obsessed with something isn't new...]

[But it scared them and Archer to no end when they'd practically put up their 'mother' act with Cole whenever he needed something so simple, or when they picked on something askew in his hair or clothes.]

[The mother act they put on for Raven, for younger campers, their siblings... this was the version where it grew tenfold with Cole. Of course, they still respected the fact that because he fell from a cliff, his body would still be sensitive to physical activities and touches, and therefore didn't feel like being touched at the moment.]

[Whenever those days passed, and it was a 'normal' day, where he tolerated the physical stuff again... it seemed fine, it seemed normal. He seemed almost shy at the stuff they'd do or say, his own cheeks flushing with color. Yet he'd recall everything told about Coco, and then wonder if this was how they were before his revival.]

[And the truth is...?]

[They were obsessed with Cole, not 'Luke obsessed', but obsessed regardless. But when losing him? And getting him back? It got worse.]

[And that made Collette look at the bunny with an empty stare, because Coco's a bunny when they want to be. But they were genuinely a lovebird type.]

Raven grinned, especially at the jujutsu kaisen reference. He'd been having Damian watch it with him lately, it being one of his favorite pieces of media. (And, Damian was never on the internet a lot- he didn't know about any animes, or musicals, shows, movies, etc.)

"Yeah? Maybe I should show her sometime." He really didn't interact too much with the rest of the army, now that he'd thought about it. Realistically, he probably should. Perhaps it felt too overwhelming, partially with everything going on. But, he also questioned, did he want to?

Everyone was great, of course- he liked them, they were mostly kind and supportive and all that, there was no personal issue. The issue was that everyone was gone. Everyone he'd grown close to had left, most commonly died. Would it be more beneficial to get close to people and have that company even if just for a bit, or to never have to experience that again?

Besides, he didn't need anyone. He had himself, and...

Raven glanced up at Damian, still in Lettie's arms, and handed him the bunny. Damian accepted it with a smile. "This thing's actually pretty cute. You should make little shadow creatures more often, it'd make things a whole lot more entertaining."

Raven had himself and Damian. That was all he needed. And if Damian happened to leave too? Raven already knew it'd be his fault. Deep in his heart, Raven knew that Damian was a good person, and Raven knew just as well that he himself, was not. He also knew that Damian hated nothing more than he hated bad people. Unfortunate.

The son of Hypnos looked from Damian to Lettie. He noticed that look in her eyes, or the lack of.

[Collette blinked a bit before looking up from the bunny, the spark still absent but the color in their eye returning. They blinked slowly at first before they nodded, humming a 'mhm' with a soft smile stretching out on their lips.]

"Yeah, sorry, I uh..." [they cleared their throat and rolled their shoulders back, looking back down at the shadow bunny.] "I didn't have the best sleep, and haven't really been getting any lately because, y'know..." [they made a gesture with their hand, glancing to the side repeatedly. A quite literal sign about the other side.]

[They wanted to keep the promise and make sure Raven could at least lean on them; they wanted to keep the promise Cole had pleaded through crimson sputtering from his lips for them to keep, pleading for them to step up as support for Raven during his permanent (temporary) absence. Collette genuinely wanted to, but with everything going on, they let him slip through their fingers and now it's- it's...?]

"He must've forgotten about me too, don't worry," [Coco giggled and squeezed their spouse's hands gently.] "Maybe too harshly phrased, sorry... but no! I'm sure he's okay; it's not like he'd hate us for not exactly making this entire thing easy for him either..."

"It's difficult for him, too, y'know...? I'm sure he'd understand."

"Would he...?"

"But, uhm, yeah, I'm good. Don't worry." [They smiled for a second before looking back down at the bunny, gently stroking its head with the pad of their index finger. Collette blinked slowly again, tilting their head with a hum.] "Bunnies usually help with making you feel better..." [they whispered, pulling their hand back to place on Damian's shoulder.]

[Their bunny used to be good at that too, and they still are good at it. Coco's still got that nature and role in them...]

Raven nodded, messing with the strings on his jacket. Obviously, the jacket from Cole, which he'd never really taken off since that day except to wash. "I get that. If you guys ever need any help with sleep, you can usually find me in my cabin. I have some sleep inducing abilities." He waved his hand, still engulfed in shadows. Despite getting 12 hours of sleep every night, Raven still looked tired too, prominent eyebags half hidden behind his glasses.

Damian looked up at Collette, just a bit confused. "...I haven't really been getting any lately because, y'know..." He'd thought the two had only met once before this. 'Maybe my sister and my best friend are just becoming friends lately or something?' he thought.

"No, Dami..." [they squeaked out softly, fingers sliding off his shoulder before they turned out and waved their hand dismissively, their other hand rubbing their eye as they headed towards the door.] "Give me a..."

"Give me a second, like one or two seconds..." [they muttered before heading out the door, looking left and right to see where it's better not to humiliate themselves with tears before going left, holding their throat on the way to wherever. Overwhelmed, Collette Adolphus, so brave and not one to cry- supposedly? Everything that was going on overwhelmed them, and it made them want to throw up again.]

["You're not exactly doing better yourself, Leticia... Colton's noticed how frequently sick you get when things get too much."]

Raven stood by, covering his face with his hands and sighing. The situation was difficult for everybody, yet it was getting increasingly difficult to hide it from Damian. How do you hide grief like this from someone you care so much about?

Damian turned to Raven, his brows furrowed. "Raven, what's going on?"

Raven paused, his hand sliding down just to cover his mouth. He wasn't looking at Damian. "Nothing, Dami. Please don't worry too much about it."

With a frown, Damian ran out of the cabin. He didn't exactly go to Collette, he just wanted to get away. Think on things for a moment.

Raven slumped down onto the beanbag chair in his cabin, groaning. What was he supposed to do? Should he contact the rest of the army, maybe ask them to check in on Collette? What was he gonna do about Damian?

[Doesn't really put two and two together if this felt like dying already, wondering if this was a way to show how Cole himself felt when he was. Well. Dead. Or at least during the process of dying, that's close enough too. Close enough, but not enough to really feel how he felt.]

[It's the type of sickness that occurs during the day all the time, but it occurs when their guilt was consuming them badly. It occurred when their thoughts turned to Cole and told them, 'You could've accepted it.']

['Could've accepted that death was coming for you rather than him.']

[The thing is that they did, they literally did, Cole had been the insisted one. He wanted to be the one to go, because they had been there first.]

[They had been the first to guide Coco; they had taken watch of them before they got claimed. They and Luke did; Cole only arrived afterwards. He came later, and because of that, he's leaving first. Not from feeling left out, but because it seemed fair to do.]

So he didn't notice. He didn't notice if Raven was acting off, if Coty was, none of that. Nothing was out of the ordinary, and suddenly, everything was out of the ordinary.

For once, he just needed to think. Just out of memory, he found himself back at his own cabin, sitting on his bed. He'd find Coty later, but for now, he decided to give them a moment. Clearly, they needed it.

Raven was still sitting in his cabin, the shadows still covering quite a bit of space. Shit. He needed to think of an excuse, fast, to explain this to Damian. Because if Damian knew, if Damian knew anything- about everything with Cole, about the army, especially about Raven being part of the army? Damian would hate him. He'd leave.

"Oh no, no, no no I take it back," [they whispered to themselves and shook their head, turning around to go back and see if they'll eventually feel better from the burning feeling in their stomach.]

[But their consciousness was pulling at them with a harsh tug, stopping once again as they gripped their roots and lowered their head with a groan. 'It's your little brother, though... you can't keep silent about this.']

['He's going to hate you more than anything, Collette. He's going to hate Raven; he's going to hate you. And it's going to be your fault if you don't shut the hell up. Shut up. Keep it to yourself. Just lie again, just lie a-']

[They were not going to lie again, as they went straight to the cabin they both resided in, slamming the door open while panting. Collette had their hands on each side of the doorframe, looking at Damian dead in the eyes. Eyes that clearly show that they had been crying not too long ago, and that's fine- that's fine, they didn't care that much anymore.]

That was 8 years ago, and he still had it. Hidden under his bed, except for moments like these where he just needed the comfort. In most cases, he'd go to Raven, but he couldn't do that right now.

He started to notice all the little things; suddenly not being able to find Raven every night was weird. He always stayed in the same few spots, and wasn't a huge fan of trying new things. The little shadows that followed him were a bit more chaotic, uncontrolled. He hadn't been interacting with many people, he hadn't been talking as much, he didn't leave his cabin as much.

There was probably more that Damian hadn't noticed. He didn't want to get stuck on that too much.

"What is he not telling me...?" Damian muttered, suddenly flinching as Collette slammed the door open.

"You'll hate me, and probably him after this... and so, I'm really sorry in advance. I'm sorry for lying to you and hiding this from you; I'm sorry I even dragged Raven into this to the point of recruiting him. I'm sorry, Damian, I'm so... so- so fucking sorry," [they whispered shakily, their eyes getting watery again at how much they're already explaining, swallowing before taking their hands back and stepping back too.]

[Collette glanced to the side, brows furrowing before cussing softly under their breath. 'Spit it out, just say it already, he's waiting-']

"Raven and I are part of the Titan Army," [eyes darted straight ahead to look at him when saying that.] "I recruited him a while ago as an order."

"Luke isn't dead, he hasn't been for a while, and I'm in- in, like a, big marriage with him along someone from cabin 4, and someone who used to be in cabin 12 before being revived and now part of cabin 17."

"The process of his revival has been a long and ongoing process, but he, Cole, is back again. And during that process, we've been telling Raven about it; we've sent him tasks to do for the army. And I've- I've practically been putting it in his head how our parents just..."

"They suck, like, a lot; they're horrible. And- and- so, basically he's hidden this from you, as much as I have hidden this from you. And someone in our cabin, our older brother, Colton, is also a part of it. The army, I mean. And... and?" [they held a finger up, lips pressed together so they don't wobble too much.]

"Technically, Cole wasn't supposed to die yet... I was, because it was a prophecy. And the aftermath of not dying is me being sick, so- so."

But he didn't think it'd be this. Damian knew Raven had issues, he'd thought maybe he was just going through something at the moment. He didn't think it would be this deep.

He stayed quiet for a long moment, the fear leaving his expression. For a few seconds, it was empty. Then it was angry. Really, really angry.

"Are you fucking serious." He said it more like it was a statement, rather than a question. The joking tone he usually held was gone. "Are you actually being serious right now, because that is not funny Collette."

Damian was a very angry person; he got mad over things very easily, but not like this. That pure, unfiltered rage that simmered deep within your bones, that wasn't common for him. The last time he'd felt that way he was barely 11 years old, the mark of Ares over his head, fire engulfing the halls of the labyrinth while he tore through any and every being in his way.

Explosive. He'd left with his newfound parentage and blood coating his tiny hands.

Sparks crackled by his hands, his fists clenched at his sides. "I-" he sighed, shutting his eyes. "I'm... Not mad at you specifically." He spoke with the most gentle voice he could, trying his best to express that he really wasn't mad at them. They had been the one to tell him in the first place, and he figured they'd suffered enough already.

Sparks grew into flames around his hands. His anger was directed towards Raven. His best friend, who he loved so deeply, hiding something so big from him. Technically, so did Collette, but the difference there was that Collette told him. Looking back, Damian never saw even a bit of a sign that Raven ever planned to tell him anything.

Damian had gone on many angry rants before about how much he hated the titan army. He and Raven had literally been there during the war, how could he not? They'd hurt and killed so many people, and it infuriated them.

Every single time, Raven had sat there and comforted him. He didn't say anything about how he really felt about it. He actually sat there and stuck by Damian's side, not telling him a single thing about the army, about what he was really doing behind his back while claiming to be his best friend, claiming to be his most trusted person.

That fucking liar. Damian was absolutely seething with rage, and he wanted nothing more than to find his supposed 'best friend' and have a little talk. A very aggressive, violent talk.

[This wasn't the way they expected things to go; at best, they expected him to yell at them or... sucker punch them on their nose; that Archer had healed and would heal again, anyway...]

[She's always around for whatever reason- somehow, too. Must be a genetic thing between grandmother Nyx and granddaughter Archer, just popping up.]

"No? Maybe? I don't know..." [they whispered to him as their eyes darted over their shoulder, aligning the path down to the H*pnos cabin. By the looks of how his fists were sparkling, Damian was going to do something in terms of physical violence.]

[Collette swallowed again, looking at Damian again as they gently raised their hands up.] "I don't know... but I won't hurt you, I promise." [you could tell how much this had affected them with how almost paranoid and insane they looked. Their good eye specifically did; their iris was shaking and their pupil was practically a slit, unfocused and shaking as well.]

[The entire thing taxed everyone's sanity and mental state, but in Collette's case, naturally, it exacerbated her existing rage and other feelings that came with being a cabin 5 camper. They'll be on the receiving end of everything because they had the most involvement in the revival.]

[And everyone saw this, and everyone tried to tell them it's finished, they don't need to do anything anymore. But that's not what they heard; they heard what they wanted to hear. That, and because Collette wasn't exactly hearing any of them properly. That's how lost they were; they were going mad to the extent of hearing things.]

[They don't even know if they heard Damian correctly when he said that he wasn't mad at them, specifically. Everything just sounded like he was angry, repeatedly telling themselves that he only said that to catch them off guard, glancing repeatedly down at his hands, seeing the way sparks flew off them. Collette's fingers twitched a little, lowering slowly, so that they hovered a bit between them both.]

['I can't pull a weapon on him, though...' they thought to themselves, eye squinting slightly as they got glossy again. 'Not on Damian...']

[The feeling of tears coming up started becoming exhausting; it got annoying. They feel too emotional, too sensitive. Everything they...]

[Everything Collette never wanted to be, what they never wanted to turn into when things get so bad. Or, well... horrible, actually.]

Like he was leaving home and going to camp, except camp is where everything fell together. Everything he had, if you could consider it anything, was gone, and he had to restart. Now, that felt like it was slipping through his grip too.

Or maybe it was never there in the first place?

"How- how long has this been happening?" Damian needed to know. He just needed to know, even though the response would probably just make everything feel worse.

He wouldn't understand this yet. Raven would understand way too soon. The two were everything to each other, and really, the loss would do so much more harm than good.

In another universe, none of this happened. In another universe, there was peace. A world where maybe they weren't demigods, there was no war, their parents cared, and death's door wasn't right next to them just for existing.

Just their luck, that it couldn't be this one. Damian was losing who he thought was his best friend. Raven would lose everything.

Collette... Looked like they were losing themselves. While Damian did look livid, he also looked worried.

"Did anyone plan to tell me? Was I ever supposed to know about this? And Raven..." He paused, trying to find the right words. What do you say when something like this happens? Finding out you probably didn't know your best friend at all?

And Collette, he didn't have any idea about this. Sure, he was upset about their role with the titans, with Kronos and Luke, but they were also grieving. Damian knew all about that experience, not from himself but from Raven, despite how hard he'd tried to hide it.

He couldn't be mad at them, especially when they were standing there, sick and hurt, finally breaking the dam on everything that had been held back.

"...did Raven ever mention me? Did he ever acknowledge my existence, or..." Or, was he nothing to the other boy? He wanted with everything in his heart to believe that whatever it was they had couldn't have been fake, but it was hard to tell now. It was all blurry-

-Blurry? Shit, his vision was blurring. Angry, frustrated tears. He covered his face, now allowing himself to cry in front of his sibling. He couldn't. The only person he would let see him like that was his best friend. Was.

"I've been... I've been part of the army since as long as Luke has been; Cole was the second recruited and Archer was the third one; Coco was the last one." [They swallowed again, thumb rubbing their knuckles.] "It's been going on for a while? Longer than months, a year or two..."

[It took a few calculating with what holidays they celebrate and how long the revival had taken again, plus the fact they had to build something in order to even have it all ready completely.]

[God, they've been hiding this longer than they should've.]

"You weren't supposed to know, I'll admit that too... it's- it's the titan army, it's supposed to stay a secret until you're pushed to the edge and eventually you end up confessing that you're part of it," [ironic, isn't it?]

[Perhaps, as stated previously, in another universe... Collette wouldn't have said yes when he saw the messenger g*d's son hold his palm out, not when offering to join the army, and not when asking for their hand in marriage. Maybe they were born mortal to add onto that, too...]

[But you can't have everything in life, and if Collette couldn't have that in this one, then they probably didn't have it in any universe either.]

[And it hurt more than anything to see how much impact this had on Damian; it hurt and made their eyes water again and again; it got...]

[It got annoying to them, how they were feeling more sensitive than they were used to. It got annoying how they've cried more than once in a row already, and it got annoying because they've been doing nothing but cry and talk like such an idiot. Stuttering or muttering, or...]

[They didn't feel like Collette Adolphus; they felt more like this version of themselves where they couldn't do much other than being so overly emotional or... that's really it, that's all they've been feeling lately. That's all they've been doing lately, just crying and crying and crying and-]

"I could tell that..." [their russet eyes glanced up from their hands, eyes widening slightly at the sight of him slumped on the floor, but keeping put when reminding themselves of what they were doing.] "Raven, uh..."

"Raven felt bad for hiding this from you; I could tell and Coco could literally smell it off him." [Their fingers tightened around each other, exhaling, eyes relaxing once more.] "Or that's... what they told me whenever I wondered how he was feeling after talking with you..."

[Despite telling themselves to stay where they were, they still approached Damian and sat down in front of him, keeping their scarred palms on their lap though.] "I don't know, actually. I only saw what I thought I saw, and that's it," [they whispered, shaking their head.]

He wouldn't have guessed they were going through so much, and he felt just a bit guilty for it. His entire goal since getting to camp was to protect the people he loved. He sometimes forgot that people also needed emotional protection.

"I recognize Cole's name, from Raven. I know Coco. I don't know Archer." He frowned, trying to recall any time he'd met these people. "Who are they?"

The more their conversation- or whatever you'd call this- went on, it occured to him how much he didn't know. Every new bit of information felt like a knife to the chest, and by the time it was over, he'd be feeling reeeally similar to a dart board.

He still felt that rage boiling inside him. That, he didn't think would ever go away. (Spoiler, yes it does, and leaves nothing behind. Absolutely nothing.)

It was obvious, with the way his hands were still sparking. The distressed look on his face. Just his entire existence at the moment was a clear giveaway.

Damian was very capable of protecting himself. He spent almost every day of every year for the past 7 years training, because he never wanted to let something hurt himself or his loved ones again.

He never thought his loved one(s) would be the real issue. Never in his life had he imagined being in this position. He felt bare, empty. Because he was supposed to be stronger, supposed to be better than this, only to find out that the real threat was the exact thing he was trying to protect.

[People might consider Coco, the chief spy of the ship and married to Kronos' right-hand man, a greater favorite. They gained respect just fine and ruled that place with an iron fist. It's understandable, it's reasonable, they're Cocona Amaya...]

[But Archer Penthia was valuable too; they needed a child from cabin seven [7], and they recruited her just as easily as they recruited Collette. She provided healing, nursing, plus therapy if some looked horrible...]

"Colton was uh... was a little like pushing him over," [Collette murmured and squeezed their knees again. What they will conceal, though, is the fact that Archer also writes where people's weaknesses are at. Physical or emotional, it doesn't matter; it's getting jotted on a notepad.] "Me."

"Me, I pushed him over because we needed more people and he hated Dad as much as I did," [Colton was the oldest out of the two, true. But Collette was an insistent type, getting what they wanted, usually.]

[And Colton wasn't the most mature type with emotional things, like a puppy if you give him watery eyes and the soft 'we need you' sentence. It makes him cave and nod in agreement, because he's that easy.]

[Hasn't been involved much yet, but that's not to say he doesn't play a part in this. For a loud son of the war g*d, he keeps really quiet when he's asked to. You tell a dog not to bark so loudly, and it listens well.]

[The put-together older sibling behaviour, combined with being their cabin's counselor [former counselor, if they ever decide on leaving camp permanently], plus the fact their reputation was just known to be the usual *res kid with a D*meter kid hooked around their arm most of the time... naturally, Damian's reaction wasn't far off from dramatic.]

[It's a little unfair that they're practically throwing everyone under the bus right now, but they're throwing themselves too- he's gonna what?]
