The poor dude sounds just a little exasperated, and with good reason
The showrunners were notoriously antagonistic towards SU, Sugar, and the SU team. The producers didn't agree with a lot of the modern/therapeutic/especially child-friendly queer positive messaging that the whole show revolves around. It almost got canceled multiple times in its runs, they'd try to tank the airing numbers by releasing the seasons/eps in "episode bombs" of 3 - 4 new ones at a time (something they did not do with any other show at the time iirc). The release dates would randomly change so the fandom would scramble to share the info amongst ourselves. Ultimately the network did end up cancelling it for the last season, cutting it down from a full lineup to just 4 episodes. A lot of what the writers and Sugar had wanted to explore wound up having to be cut and/or fit into the epilogue movie.
All because some cruel producers hated that it showed queer children we were loved and deserved to love ourselves. Truly, that was it. But the show survived anyways and it's still loved to this day.
