i was five years old when i started puberty in full force, this cascaded into a hellish series of health concerns, physical and mental and social. it's how i was diagnosed with (n?)CAH and bc my condition was not grievously salt-wasting, it was written off as something i would just have to deal with despite the medicine to stop my development already being available in the late 90s/00 (same time that the Dutch Protocol emerged).
intersex and trans kids are not beholden to the whims of their sex hormones just because they are below age of consent, or bc they need responsible adult guidance in order to support and arrange for their care. in fact these are the reasons W H Y these conversations should be had with children, specifically children who have already expressed gender nonconformity or dysphoria (whether physical or social) as early as possible.
intersex and trans kids are not hypotheticals, they are not blank slates until they turn 18, they are not to be "protected" from their options, they are to be informed, guided, and supported to make their own choices and that may or may not have anything to do with their genitals or reproductive capacity, btw.
