it really is ok to be Basicâ˘, ya know?
scented candles are comforting and nice, sweet coffee drinks and black coffee drinks are both valid, romcoms are called âfeel goodâ for a reason and you can watch them to feel happy itâs not a crime, decorate your room with fairy lights, drink hot cocoa with marshmallows, listen to that cd that everyone talks about and that you hear playing in the Starbucks all the time, popular things become popular because a lot of people like them and itâs ok to also like those popular things it doesnât make you boring. I could go on but you know what I mean.
your interests and simple pleasures are meant to entertain you, not meant to make you look entertaining to others.
if you enjoy Basic⢠things then embrace that enjoyment. thatâs for you. enjoy it.
reminder to enjoy being Basic⢠today and always

Itâs like peering into my own life
I hope everyone reblogs this.
For most of the 114 years since the American pitbull terrier was first recognized by the United Kennel Club, the breed was rightly seen as the perfect ânanny dogâ for children because of its friendly nature, loyalty and stability. [x]
Pit bulls have always been protectors. With good owners and proper care, they still are. Chako*, Lefty, Baby, Creature, and Bela are proof of that.
Pitbulls are great dogs and anyone who says otherwise can fucking fight me
@benevolentcalamity ya need to see this
I know I told this story before but last year I was having complications with a surgery and I just broke down in a public place and I was trying to gather myself, sitting and leaning on a wall when this girl in cowboy boots approached me and sat down and she asked what was wrong and I told her it was medical issues and she said âI understand, I have to have my foot amputated next weekâ and it shocked me out of crying and I was like âwow that sucks!â And she said âyeah.â And then she just touched my arm so tenderly and told me âI promise you that this problem will have its place, and everything is going to work out.â And the way she said it just made me really believe her. She said. âWeâre just gonna have to cowgirl up.â And then she stood up and walked away and Iâd call that a genuine encounter with an angel but the truth is there is a lot of goodness right here on earth in humanity and itâs shining and pure.
Okay but âthis problem will have its placeâ is genuinely inspiring
THAT REALLY STRUCK ME because Iâve always hated the tired rhetoric of âthis happened for a reasonâ and this feels like a more genuine, comforting take on that. Not âit happened for a reason,â but âthis will find its spot in your life and your future that it fits into in a way that will eventually work out even though it sucks that it happened.â Love that.
Weâre just gonna have to cowgirl up
This problem will have its place.

âWhen I was young, women were raped on the campus of a great university and the authorities responded by telling all the women students not to go out alone after dark or not to be out at all. Get in the house. (For women, confinement is always waiting to envelope you.) Some pranksters put up a poster announcing another remedy, that all men be excluded from campus after dark. It was an equally logical solution, but men were shocked at being asked to disappear, to lose their freedom to move and participate, all because of the violence of one man.â

HOSPITALS. ARE. ALREADY. REQUIRED. UNDER. LAW. TO. PROVIDE. LIFE. SAVING. EMERGENCY. CARE. REGARDLESS. OF. ABILITY. TO. PAY. OR. EVEN. CITIZENSHIP.
Stop acting like Americans have no access to emergency healthcare unless we socialize medicine.
IF. YOU. GO. AND. CANâT. PAY. YOUâRE. STILL. THOUSANDS. IN. DEBT. THIS. IS. NOT. ACCESS.
This hospital in my city just threw out a homeless man
The hospital which took me in after I collapsed from the fist sized tumor over my heart, released me after refusing to diagnose it as cancer, which would have forced them to give me some kind of treatment. The doctor at the county hospital which took me in looked at their tests and said, âthis is CLEARLY cancer, why didnât they diagnose it? We canât let you leave.â
Hospitals find ways when they want to, to avoid helping people when they want to.
âOh thatâs illegal, you should sueâ â with what money and how will I get the time and energy when Iâm busy recovering from chemo?â
People who canât afford treatment also canât afford to protect their rights.
Absolutely this: âPeople who canât afford treatment also canât afford to protect their rights.â
âPeople who canât afford treatment also canât afford to protect their rights.â
let it sink in âPeople who canât afford treatment also canât afford to protect their rights.â
natalie portman radiates such a terrifying energy i canât describe itâŚ.. itâs not exactly evil but itâs not warm eitherâŚ. i feel like she could unhinge her jaw and drag me into the ocean like a kraken but she wouldnât bc itâs undignifiedÂ
Wanna know why?
âOscar-winning actress Natalie Portman told the crowd at Saturdayâs Womenâs March in downtown Los Angeles that she experienced what she calls âsexual terrorismâ as a 13-year-old after the release of the film The Professional.
Portman described her pride and excitement in releasing the film, only to encounter sexually explicit messages both directed toward her and made about her.
âI excitedly opened my first fan mail to read a rape fantasy that a man had written me,â she recalled. âA countdown was started on my local radio show to my 18th birthday, euphemistically the date that I would be legal to sleep with. Movie reviewers talked about my budding breasts in reviews.â
The experience, she said, changed the way she expressed herself publicly, in order to limit the ways she could be objectified by others.
âI understood very quickly, even as a 13-year-old, that if I were to express myself sexually, I would feel unsafe,â she said. âAnd that men would feel entitled to discuss and objectify my body to my great discomfort. So I quickly adjusted my behavior. I rejected any role that even had a kissing scene and talked about that choice deliberately in interviews. I emphasized how bookish I was and how serious I was. And I cultivated an elegant way of dressing. I built a reputation for basically being prudish, conservative, nerdy, serious, in an attempt to feel that my body was safe and that my voice would be listened to.â
