Michelangelo’s David. The most famous statue in the world. Sculpted between 1501 and 1504, commissioned by the city of Florence. Like all sculptors, Michelangelo made small scale models, or, well, what’s commonly known as Maquettes, first.
in my culture not only do we hate family and food but we also leave our plastic bags loosely strewn all over the floor and we don't even have a quaint little name for a small local convenience store you can buy sandwiches at.

One of those bastard months
Divine Office things I have been learning recently:
Like the Mass, there are several different valid forms of the Divine Office, also called the Liturgy of the Hours; also like the Mass, the valid forms within the Roman Rite are roughly divided into the one formalized after the Council of Trent, others that had already been in use for at least 200 years before then (mostly belonging to religious orders, or local forms), and the one instituted after the Second Vatican Council.
Concerning the older forms:
If you want to pray the traditional form of the Divine Office, https://www.divinumofficium.com has the Hours for every day according several of the different historical forms, with full Latin side-by-side with the vernacular of your choice.
If you want to chant the traditional Office, https://www.breviariumgregorianum.com has all the Hours for every day according to the Roman Office (Tridentine form) with full chant notation of every part and accompanying music (not words, just notes). Their one downside is that they don't fully translate the Office, but the Psalms have an included translation that, again, comes with a lot of language options.
There are also several religious orders that stream their liturgies! https://barrouxchant.com/ is the only one I remember offhand, but I know it is a Thing That Is Done.
If you want physical books, Clear Creek Abbey not only has a good selection of the big, expensive books for the Roman Office and the Benedictine Office, they also have small booklets holding just morning and evening prayer (Prime and Compline), AND they have a comparison chart for all their offerings.
Paraclete Press also has a lot of physical books for the Divine Office, particularly in the realm of chant books.
Current resources for the newer form (shorter list because I know less about this and also because New Resources Are Coming):
https://divineoffice.org/ gives all the daily readings and prayers for the modern Liturgy of the Hours in English, as well is spoken recordings.
IBreviary also provides everything you need in app form.
NEWS for the newer form:
The Liturgy of the Hours, Second Edition is in the process of coming out in the United States. This is a new authorized translation of the modern Office - the first, as far as I can tell, since Vatican II. The psalms and canticles are a new translation I don't know much about (but my impression is they're good), other scriptural elements are from the NABRE, and the rest of the Divine Office has been newly translated by the International Commission for English in the Liturgy (the same people who gave us the new translation of the Mass in English 15 years ago - very promising!). It's getting rolled out over the next couple years - clergy will be allowed to use it next Ash Wednesday, and obligated to use it (instead of the previous edition/translation, I mean) by the start of Advent 2028.
Less concrete so far but also exciting: the Church Music Association of America has been authorized by the USCCB to create a full chant setting for this new edition!! No timeline on that but it's going to happen, which is a GOOD CHANGE for the life of the English-speaking Church. The CMAA is full of scholars who know and love sacred music at its best and particularly are steeped in the history and beauty of the chant.
While the new edition of the Liturgy of the Hours is still being published (on preorder at Ascension Press), the Divine Office Hymnal, holding all the hymns of the new edition in English, is already out there. (I am somewhat sad to realize that it doesn't seem to have the Latin or to have chant notation. But the hymns are set to chant melodies!)
