we're looking to create an AI policy, and when we were talking about this, my boss (older millennial) was genuinely shocked to hear that younger people do not (seem) to view AI positively (a la the recent commencement speakers being booed)

Tldr: Starbucks Korea did a marketing campaign aimed at making jokes about the Gwangju Uprising, the pro-democracy uprising in the 80s where as many as 2300 people were KILLED by the military.

1) people in the company consulted AI on the ideas for the campaign

2) several managers never even opened the attachments with the marketing material.

3) there is a 4chan-like right-wing online space where mocking the massacre is common.

Take what you want to from that. The guys behind signing this off have now been ARRESTED. And the ceo has been fired.

I mean this is just one example.

We don't have proof that that school is Iran was bombed by ai target-pickers, but the signs are there. My own government just crowed about the future of the military being 'machine-fast human approved targeting'. But if the human is assuming the AI is giving them the right information, how are they going to accurately approve the choice? And if the AI can lie, then the human is going to have to re-check everything so why is the AI helpful at all?

I'd probably have called her my best friend at the time, though I very much doubt she'd have said the same, partly because having One Single Best Friend and being super weird about which of your friends gets this coveted spot is not something middle-aged people care about.
