Look I’m as upset as any MCU fan that Spider-Man pulled out of the MCU, but everyone seems to be blaming sony when we should be blaming Disney? Like, THEY were the ones who got greedy and tried to change a pre-standing agreement to something that would vastly disadvantage the smaller studio that actually OWNED the character, and when sony said “haha, nooope!” And walked away, people blamed them for making the smart business decision of not letting Disney, the giant-ass entertainment monopoly, bully them into an unfair deal. Disney fucks up, Disney needs to fix it. If they want the MCU phase 4 to proceed as has been planned, they’re going to have to give sony a better seat at the negotiation table and stop being so goddamn greedy. I don’t think Sony actually plans on being gone forever tbh; they know that Disney is at a disadvantage here and that they are likely to come back. It was, in my opinion, a smart move at this stage in the game. Now, if by some miracle Disney decides to proceed with this idiocy and NOT offer Sony a better deal, then they’ll both be in trouble, but right now I have to say I respect sony a hell of a lot.
