the best analogy imo for ocd is mosquito bite. its so itchy its driving you crazy and you know scratching it will make it itch so much worse later but you need it to stop right now and scratching it feels so good and even when you dont want to scratch it and you feel like you could handle the itch you cant even stop your hand from scratching the second you stop focusing on not scratching. except ☝️ what if it was inside your brain and instead of an itch it was terrifying overwhelming distress

since it's disability pride month can we seriously talk about the sanism in the comics community. i'm tired of mentally ill people being portrayed as evil and dangerous. i'm tired of fans and creators talking about our disorders as if that makes us inherently bad.

both creators and fans alike need to be careful how they discuss mentally ill characters. stop using words like "psycho" to signal someone is dangerous. stop portraying us as one dimensional villains instead of complex human beings. stop treating our mental illness as some "dark side" that needs to be fixed. we're real people in this community and we can see how we're talked about and portrayed. it's harmful. we deserve better.
