celebratory art of my 8 month-old puppy coming home after getting lost earlier this month. she went missing on a walk when some fireworks scared her into the neighboring woods (the heatwave made this esp time sensitive, had my atheist ass praying for the first time in 6yrs). we searched miles of trees day and night, only for her to randomly sneak in from the backdoor at 1 in the freaking morning!!! (typical penny)
she sustained some injuries, but after a couple vet visits, she is safe and recovering well! it’s been difficult managing her recovery on top of rescue/medical expenses, so i’ll also have tips/comms open if you’d like to help. more than anything, i’m just glad i can go back to drawing w penny sitting in my lap :”)

This is one of the first characters I added to my supercritters list, from a conversation with my friend where I was ideating on this blog. I absolutely did not remember the context of making Trickster a rabbit, so I had to go hunt it down:

Trickster's one of those excitable, easily distracted characters in any incarnation of him, so an animal that's "bouncing around" fit him well
Axel is the Trickster who's REALLY a mouse in a den of snakes; James Trickster is a little bigger and tougher. But he's still a way less threatening than a rogue like Mirror Master, for example
I chose the Harlequin breed for its name; playing into his jester imagery

Robert Lifeld becoming a comic influencer is fucking ridiculous why are people putting him on the "mount Rushmore of 90s comic artists". Name a single influential comic run of his that's not X-Force.
I don't want the Trickster in the current Flash run to be Axel because Axel has had ENOUGH alright comics in the last decade while James hasn't had a good comic since 2008 and was actively brought back to life so he could be ruined so I think James and James's fans (me) deserve a fun comic a little more, but the thought of the James and Wally relationship being boiled down to "I have a soft spot for the Trickster. The guy just tries so hard!" makes me want to scream.
That is NOT the way I would talk about the annoying man who died protecting my best friend for one thing.
He doesn't care about him on the same level as Piper obviously but James was reformed and his moral status immediately before dying seemed to land on "not as bad as we all feared", so Wally's opinion of James should be "untrustworthy guy who sometimes helps who was tortured into madness and that sucks :("
