there ain't no sanity clause

I'm so artistically burned out I just want to go walk into the ocean man. Like, in a good way cause I love the ocean and I love being in water and it is healing. God like, even just looking at good art/animation instead of getting excited I just feel exhausted. This sucks. Thanks tumblr for your diary like format, I don't want to complain to friends or family I just want to vomit head thoughts and get them out like bad bacteria in the gut.

I take a weekly Japanese class that I love, and for homework this week I need to write an essay (in Japanese, clearly) about my ideal retirement. Being a single millenial American I don't have much hope of retiring so I started researching phrases for alternate plans and I learned: 玉の輿に乗る "tama no koshi ni noru" Literally like... get on the jeweled carriage. It means marrying for money. I am going to stumble my way through basic ass Japanese conversations and then just whip this one out some day.

I thought of a mystery maybe tumblr can solve and if it can I will be STUNNED. Hundreds of years ago, when blockbusters roamed the land, I remember we would rent whatever anime we could get our hands on cause in those days anime was a rare and precious commodity. We got one dub of... something. I have no idea what. I barely remember it AT ALL. It was definitely set in regular modern Japan. It was some kind of shounen. And I just remember cracking up at this stupid line with a serious adult character from a shady business? Corporation? Having a crush on his secretary but played completely straight. And he tries to very seriously flirt with her by saying Good job on those staples. Right in the corner. Just where I like them. And she's like thank you sir and leaves and he just stands there, very serious, like.... god why am I like this. I think of this whenever I'm stapling and get a perfect corner, and also whenever I am also trying to flirt.
