The thing is, I do want Netenyahu arrested. I do think he's a war criminal, and I do think Israel would be better off with him behind bars.
But I want the Israelis to do it. I want the Israelis to get a chance to handle their problems themselves. I want Netenyahu to have to confront the material harm that he's caused to his own people, and I want those people to have their justice.
I want Netenyahu to be brought to justice by the people he actually hurt, not some thirty year old New Yorker who thinks he knows better than Jews about antisemitism and feels entitled to speak over us about our own history for some goddamn reason.
What did he do? Genuinely, I need context here.
Is he like Israel's Trump, where he ran on (insert slogan here) and then TWO TERMS LATER - we're plunged into a stupid war?
He is not as bad as trump in the criminal sense. The accusations against him are for taking bribes and general corruption, not rape or something like that.
Because I'm hearing a lot of...I'm gonna call it noise - around him and I want to hear from actual Israelis about him outside of...this, ya know?
Most of us fucking hate the guy. He might’ve been a good leader in the beginning but it was not even within my conscious lifetime. He’s been PM for over 20 years and at this point the only thing he cares about is staying in power. He sold us all to the ultra religious minority because their leaders back him. He gives power to anyone who will back him. Even convicted terrorists like Ben Gvir. He lets them run amok just so he cab stay PM. He refuses to take responsibility for any of his shortcomings. He constantly lies about his health too. Two years ago he had a heart attack but kept insisting to the press it was heat exhaustion until a few months after news came out of him getting a pace maker. After Oct 7 the smat move for him was to respond and resign, like Golda Meir did. But he doubled down and dug his heels in. He refuses to have an independent investigation into the failings that lead to the horror of oct 7 and how abhorrently unprepared we were. At this point i wouldn’t be surprised if he knew it was gonna happen and let it happen as an excuse to stay in power. I am sure he is an exceedingly smart man. And he was a great leader in the begging. But you either die (or resign) a hero or reign long enough to become a villain.
YES AND his refusal to resign after october 7th included him and his cronies accusing other israelis and israeli institutions (like yair golan, shikma bresler and the supreme court, who's job is to hold him. accountable) of TREASON. His refusal to take responsibility and admit defeat made him villify hostage's families! For wanting him to get their kids home! Aaand the reason why the idf got stuck in gaza for like 2 years was that he was too much of a coward to come up with a day after plan for gaza bc he knew it would involve the palestinian authority and his voters wouldn't like that (I mean yeah the PA fucking sucks and literally pays ppl to kill jews but like, the other option was fucking hamas) , so now we fought in gaza for 2 years and hamas is still in power. And also he sorrounds himself with morons who do untold damage to this country and rely on populism and racism bc he's afraid a smart and capable underling would undermine him. Also him possibly being a good leader in the begining doesn't matter when he only got the position bc he got his political rival killed
