אחרי שהוא פוגש את שרון בבית הקפה בדרך הביתה הוא שר שיר I want song על כמה שהוא רוצה את שרון, כשהוא מגיע למילה האחרונה של השיר שתהיה "שרון", הוא נזכר בזה ששרון אמרה שהיא רוצה לשחק בסרט ושהוא עושה סרט, יש מונטאג' של scene changes בזמן שהוא שר את המילה שרון ומחזיק את אותו התו לזמן ארוך (/ זה מתדרדר לצעקה).

patrons, thinking about the backstory they concocted for zuko and iroh where their home was invaded by firebenders and they barely survived with their lifes so they could come and have a peaceful life selling tea in a city the war doesnt touch:

The world is telling him to be brave, but he can’t, not yet, because he is a coward.

He has lost his identity and autonomy

The decision is already made (he must die)

He is all alone (he doesn’t have the bravery gene)

The second time:

He is surrounded by yellow (cowardice) and is wearing white (bravery)

He is in the middle of his namesake: a field of rye. The field is the yellow of cowardice; that is who he was, but he can’t be that, not anymore, because he is brave.

And for ppl asking, why did they go to israel (british mandate of palestine at the time) and not anywhere else:

All countries who allowed jewish immigration limited it, including the US. the british turned jewish refugee ships who reached mandatory palestine around and sent our people back to nazi occupied europe to die. he was the eldest son of fire lord sozin, who knew the avatar was the greatest threat to the fire nation, but also knew the new one would be a firebender and he couldn’t exactly merc his own people, now could he? but he always planned to order a convenient little assassination on whoever the new avatar turned out to be and in the meantime took out the air temples so that avatar couldn’t learn the next element in the cycle. of course, when it turns out to be his son, sozin, stellar dad that he is, thinks “if you want something done right” and shoots a fire blast at his firstborn.

zuko enters the avatar state, blows up half the palace, etc etc as one does, gets a nasty scar for his trouble, and escapes, hence why he was hanging out far enough south to necessitate katara and sokka cracking open a cold boy a century later.

all this is to say 1. i think it’s a good way to maintain zuko’s background and characterization in an au like this and 2. it leads to a secret second roleswap
