To be honest, I‘m not thankful for everything. I even think saying that is some big ass toxic positivity. I‘m thankful I survived. Survived. Thankful that I found, that I got the strength to push through it. I‘m not thankful that it happened, but that I learned how to turn some of it into something positive. Into a lesson learned. But the scars remain, and maybe some wounds will never close completely. I‘m not thankful I had to go through that, but I‘m thankful that I did.

Only 1% of the entire world’s population has vitiligo but I see so many artists making characters with it when they sometimes don’t even know what vitiligo is and pass it off as “skin pigmentation”. Like— what does that even mean??? XD
It’s not an aesthetic and it won’t get you “diversity points” so stop romanticizing vitiligo!
Honestly very happy to see this, especially the part that emphasises that skin tone has nothing to do with the likeliness of developing vitiligo. You can be as white as snow and have it.

Lol, here’s a fun one: if you had been born in the medieval era and without access to modern medicine, how long would you have lived? If I managed to survive being born (unlikely) I would have died at age 22 from appendicitis :) hbu?
I would’ve also most likely died in my early 20s bc of an infected cyst I had. It’d cause fevers and render me unable to walk since it was on my lower back…so yay.
I would have likely died in infancy from pneumonia.
I would’ve died during birth.
Mum had an emergency c-section for both me, and later, my little sister as her cervix decided to not open properly despite hours of full-on active labour.
I would have died in the womb, because back then there were no injections to sustain fetuses that were dying. Or maybe I wouldn’t have, who knows. My mother did bleed for 6 months when pregnant with me. Continuously.
Hmm. Likely upon birth. But I’m not very sure, cuz my condition in itself wasn’t life threatening (my feet and hands were stiff and twisted by a 1-in-a-million congenital anomaly), but I was born premature by a month.
Probably with about 16 or so bc my eyesight is really bad, like about -6 to -7 dioptres, (started with glasses at about 8 yrs) and taking my lovable, natural clumsiness into account, I would have been run down by a carriage or so bc I just wouldn't have recognized it.
Or I would have been sacrificed in a church cult or something, I was SO easy to manipulate lol

Okay but for anyone who legit wants to know how to calculate it correctly:
The elbow joint on average rests a couple inches higher than the navel, so if you measure how long the distance is from the middle of the shoulder to that point then you have the length of the upper and fore arms!
So if anyone’s wondering about legs too, the simplest rule of thumb is that the length from the top of the leg to the knee is equal to the distance between the top of the leg and the bottom of the pectorals:
And I wanna stress that when i say “top of the leg” i’m not talking about the crotch (please don’t flag me tumblr it’s an anatomical term) i’m talking about the point where the femur connects to the pelvis, which is higher up on the hips:

So yeah if you use that measurement when using this technique you should get fairly realistically proportioned legs:
But remember! messing with proportions is an important and fun part of character design! Know the rules first so you can then break them however you please!
