I Stan dramatic bisexuals with their euphemisms for how big their strap is
*watches a movie* *goes and reblogs a gifset of it on tumblr so i can let everyone on tumblr know i watched a movie*
A Growing List of Banned Tags
This is my second go at making this blog. The first time, I got shadowbanned immediately for writing a post with these words on it, so Iâm going to have to link to a google doc instead.
You can find my current list HERE
If youâd like to contribute tags youâve found, please send it via an ask or submission so I can double check and add it to the list.
EDIT: It appears a good number of these still work on desktop, but they donât work on mobile.
PSA regarding tumblrâs latest Censorship Nightmare
For those of you who havenât seen this announcement, tumblr recently made some changes to the iOS version of the app, purportedly to comply with Appleâs content guidelines. These changes took effect on Dec 21, starting in version 22.5.1 of the iOS app. As some of you may recall, Appleâs strict guidelines were the driving force for the infamous Great Purge of 2018, which coincidentally also happened around this time of year, but it seems banning all of the female-presenting nipples wasnât good enough for Apple.
Below is a summary of the important changes. Note that these changes technically ONLY affect those using the iOS app. If youâre accessing tumblr through a different app or operating system (Google Chrome, Android app, etc) it wonât affect you directly but it will affect your followers who use iOS so you should definitely be aware of it.
The list of banned tags has been expanded. As before, thereâs no way to know which words or phrases have been banned until you try searching for them, in which case youâll either get no search results or the following message: âThis content has been hidden because of potentially suggestive or explicit content.â You may think this doesnât concern you if you donât post explicit material, but do not make the mistake of expecting the banned tags to be logical or reasonable. Iâve already encountered multiple completely innocuous posts (random fandom gifsets) that seem to be hidden on iOS for no discernible reason.
Blogs that have been flagged as explicit can no longer be viewed. Previously, flagged blogs just had their posts hidden from searches, but if you knew the username you could still visit it after clicking through a warning about sensitive content. Now you canât access it at all.
Likes and reblogs from blogs that have been flagged will no longer show up in your notes. This one wonât affect most peopleâs user experience as much as the others, but it does mean you may be missing notes. Itâs unclear if likes and reblogs from flagged blogs will still count towards the overall note total (and only be missing from the activity feed and note viewer) but I suspect thatâs the case.
THE BIG ONE: ANY POST TAGGED WITH A BANNED TAG WILL NO LONGER SHOW UP ON YOUR DASHBOARD. Previously, if you tagged a post with a banned word or phrase (even if the words were used inside another tag), that post would not show up in searches, but your followers would still be able to see it on their dashboard. Now those posts are hidden from your own followers as well. This includes both original posts and reblogs. And if that wasnât bad enough, hereâs the real kicker: even if you donât tag something with one of the banned words, if the OP used a banned tag, any reblogs of that post will not show up on anyoneâs dashboard (on the iOS app). The only saving grace here, and I hate to even call it that, is that the blocked posts are still visible if you visit a blog directly or if you have post notifications turned on.
As usual, tumblr was extremely unclear and evasive about all of this in their official announcement. Not surprising, of course, since if more people were aware of these new draconian tactics I canât imagine there wouldnât be more of an uproar about it. Tumblr claims that these changes are somewhat temporary and that they are currently working on something that will allow for a less restricted iOS experience, but they refuse to say what that something is and when it will be implemented. And letâs just say, considering their track record, Iâm not hopeful.
All of this is horrible and infuriating for many reasons, but the worst part is how insanely counterproductive it is to creating the âsafeâ environment tumblr (or more specifically Apple) supposedly wants.
Tags have always been used for both blog organization and filtering purposes. Tagging posts with triggers and content warnings is a common practice that gives users the ability to filter out content they may find upsetting or just donât donât want to see for whatever reason. By choosing to ban a bunch of unlisted âsensitive contentâ tags, all theyâre doing is encouraging people who want to share that kind of content to come up with alternative less well-known tags or simply not tag that content at all anymore if they want it to show up on their followerâs dashboards, thereby making it more likely for someone to encounter it when they didnât want to.
So really, with all of the alleged concern for safety and âprotecting the children,â all theyâve done is make tumblr less safe for everyone. Typical.

As a former band nerd, I can tell you that this instrument is finally being used as it should be :D
Also hereâs a link to the entire song if you want it - thereâs more silliness!

Hey kids, take it from an old forest hag: it's totally okay to half-ass your hobbies
... trace that picture for your journal
... like old cars without knowing how to fix them
... watch the movies without reading the comics
... super glue the part of the model
... learn one (1) way to make a braid
... watch how-to videos for every step of the recipe
... google every second word in that article
... use the automatic setting on your camera
And don't be ashamed. Real life isn't school. The all or nothing mentality is not healthy. Don't gate-keep yourself from stuff that might be fun. Shrug, grin, and hold eye contact with a boomer while you do it. It's good I promise.
yeah!!! good words
To Wong Foo Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar (1995)
Dir. Beeban Kidron
This was such a formative movie
This shit was revolutionary for the mid-90s. Among other things it helped me understand that transgender and cross-dressing were completely separate things.
To this day, I am in awe of the fact that Patrick Swayze not only campaigned hard to get the audition, not only auditioned in dress and makeup, but spent most of the day leading up to the audition walking around LA in dress and makeup.
This was a man who could sing, dance, act, ride a horse, fight, and walk in heels, he had nothing to prove to anyone, and he is MISSED.
Okay, Iâm not done feeling about this.
If youâre younger, you may not know Patrick Swayze; he was Taken From Us in 2009. But Patrick Swayze was an icon of masculinity. Men were willing to watch romantic movies because Patrick Swayze was in them.
Patrick Swayze was fucking beefcake.
And this man didnât just agree to do a movie where the only time heâs not actually in drag is the first three minutes, which involve stepping out of the shower, doing make up, and getting Dressed. He has ONE LINE that is delivered in a manâs voice, and itâs not during those three minutes.
And if you watch those three minutes, you see a stark difference between his portrayal of Miss Vida BohĂŠme and Wesley Snipes as Noxeema Jackson. (I am not criticizing Snipesâ performance. They were different roles.) Noxeema was a comedy character. Chi-Chi was a comedy character. But Miss Vida BohĂŠme was a dramatic role, played by a dramatic powerhouse.
When Vida sits down in front of the mirror, she sees a man. And she doesnât like it.
Then she puts her hair up, and her face lights up.
âReady or not,â she says. âHere comes Mama.â
And while Noxeema is having fun with her transformation (at one point breaking into a giggling fit after putting on pantyhose), Vida is simply taking pleasure in bringing out her true self. And when sheâs done, she sees this:
And you can FEEL her pride.
All of this from an actor who, up to this point, walked on to the screen and dripped testosterone.
It matters that this happened in 1995. It wouldnât fly today, wouldnât be the right choice, weâve moved past it, but it mattered and was important that it happened the way it happened today. Itâs one of the stepping stones.

Creative way of saving camels from getting run over
my favourite things about this video:
1) the amount of time that went into considering this approach, which is a resounding 0.00 seconds
2) the baby's screm - yes it's sad bc the poor lil guy is scared but the way his yells for momma hitch with the guy's running have me lmao ngl
3) the guy either had the incredible good fortune or the foresight to put the baby between himself and momma so he could make a break for it. it was too quick. Too deliberate and almost instinctive. He has done this before.
4) the victory skips and turban twirling.
10/10 but please for the love of god there has to be a better way camels kick people to death
