I don't usually do this but I do want to highlight a few people that have been consistent supporters of this blog. Y'all absolutely have made a difference to me when it's sometimes difficult to keep this going. Thank you so much!!

@amatann : you've been here for so long supporting these polls! Easily the most consistent in my notifications! Makes my heart beat everytime.

And of course, the MOST important contributors (even if they don't know anything about this blog) is the gif-makers! last year a video was going around where charles was impressed by how quickly lewis could do maths in his head and this skill was crucial to overtaking max in canada. he was explaining in one interview how he had to calculate power deployment of his own car during a lap and to move on max when max's power was at the lowest and his "failed" first attempts to overtake him, were missions to see how much power max had on different corners. what's even more impressive he did it to the driver with the most powerful engine, while driving 3rd most powerful.

sorry for such an essay in your askbox 😭 but it makes me angry how interesting and good f1 media could be if they were not so racist and glazing max for how often and amazing he spins in his car 🫩

apparently this is the brake setup he always preferred, but he has been complaining about ferrari's brakes since he got there. he needs to be able to brake aggressively to make the most out of his driving style. but in any case, it's obvious this year's car is much more to his liking in plenty of ways. you could tell from the beginning that he was much more confident in this car.

yeah when people talk about him being "naturally" fast i lose it. there's nothing natural about all the work he puts into his racecraft, and the deep understanding he has of physics. which is obvious if people watch any races, but they don't. he is constantly doing math in his head, i don't know how he can do it, but he's keeping track of everything happening in the race and planning everything one two, three corners ahead. whenever the broadcast shows his radio messages you can hear his back and forth, all the strategizing that goes into how he plans each lap.
