There was something so perfectly satisfying about Zaeth getting out of trouble not by dodging responsibility like always but by owning it, by saying “this was my choice and I had the right to make it, because this is my fucking town.”

I wonder if HJ and Vesper were bitten by the same bat.
1 became a superhero, 1 became a rich businessman.
The answer is obvious.
It was Batman.
I wonder if HJ and Vesper were bitten by the same bat.
wait so vesper died in 2003, 23 years ago, and nancy is 51. she was 28 when she wrote that obituary. how long do you think she’d been working for the omaha sunday scoop at that point? no wonder it hit hard, a girl just a few years younger than she is, passionate and driven like she is, who never had the chance to be more. how much of nancy’s career do you think was driven by the determination that someone needs to tell the story of people who think they’ll disappear without anyone noticing, how many nights did she spend doggedly pursing a story, exhausted and upset, and pulling out that old obituary for the strength to keep pushing forwards?

but let's be so clear Ermine's not dead, we don't know what powers she can use from in the abyss, but she has powers there are people looking for her and she is NOT DEAD
Koschei always being on Zaeth's side, because his sire wasn't there for him... we love breaking the circle of abuse in this fandom.
obsessed with the fact that nobody asked what kind of mythical creature estelle laurent is but madelaine did take the time to ask if she was any good in bed
some zac oyama parallels

me, quietly whispering to the ao3 page of an author who doesn’t even know I exist: I am obsessed with you
me, whispering to the ao3 page of an author who hasn’t updated anything in four years: I think about you often and I hope you’re alright
me, whispering to the ao3 page of an author who wrote one life altering banger and nothing else: I hope your pillow is cool and your skin is clear and you find money in a forgotten jeans pocket
me, whispering to every single person on this post: please leave one singular comment saying literally any of that

So we all agree that the “Austin job” is Maya catfishing LaVonte, right?
HJ has big spinch energy this episode
just saw a "only one bed" fic with the major character death warning
#i guess that's one way to solve that problem
“This bed ain’t big enough for the both of us.”
Nom nom nom….
i DO believe that a good writer can make mischaracterization work. oh there's a character who doesn't normally cry? figure it out!! dissect the character. make the situation cryable for them. make that character cry ugly tears even if it goes against their very nature. YOU CAN MAKE IT WORK!!!
I think it was @derinthescarletpescatarian who I saw say something to the effect of;
Instead of saying "They wouldn't do that", instead ask "What would it take for them to do that?", and then put those circumstances into place.
Very useful advice but I'm pretty sure I didn't give it

Thinking again of LaVonte's "I like that guy" as Mitch broke through the window at Rediron Towers in the first episode. With Mitch naming that the coterie and the Camarilla seem to want different things, how he thinks they should just keep doing their thing and if the Camarilla wants to get their fangs out, they can deal with that then. And LaVonte adamantly agreeing cause he genuinely does not gaf for their approval.
LaVonte dares them to push back and wants that fight because he's been fighting it. He's been fighting that fight. When the Reverend said he wanted to suck him dry, he mouthed asking "is he talking about me?" to HJ. HE'S BEEN FIGHTING THIS FIGHT.
As the childe of a Camarilla sire, and unlike Mitch who does not have a sire to follow or tell him what to do or how to be, his vampiric experience has been very tied to the Camarilla.
But who LaVonte is, is someone who cares. As Lou said, he hasn't forgotten what it means to be human. He pretended to feed on Ethel to protect her. He said people make the hard things easy. Someone who wants to make the place he's at, make the world, better. He took the ability to eat food and that is just one part of his human experience that he keeps. He cares about others, and he sees this in Mitch. He sees the freedom Mitch has in having no rules to follow and choosing to be someone heroic. He likes that.
I'm actually obsessed with the way Zaeth defended and stook up for everyone in the Coterie. When he spoke about Bat Child even though they had all made fun of her. "She's working on it." was so full of love. His sire said "your only job is to stay on top of the wheel" and Zaeth went "What if you want to kind of decorate the wheel and get your buds on the wheel? And kind of run at the same pace?" They're his buds. He wants them to be okay and succeed in whatever way matters to them. They're family. <3
