Meet Japan Post Delivery Robots π¬
Alright, who didn't tell me delivery robots could be this cute?
These robots in Japan will chirp "excuse me, coming through" to get by pedestrians, and will even change eye expressions to look sad while saying it. They can avoid objects, and will look out for dangers(such as people on bikes).
"Proponents hope the machines could eventually help elderly people in depopulated rural areas get access to goods, while also addressing a shortage of delivery workers in a country with chronic labor shortages." Japan Times
They do not move quickly, but since Japan has one of the worlds oldest populations, this technology could become essential for providing daily necessities for them.
In the future, the company hopes that the robots will be able to check on the safety of the elderly customers.
I think these could be very helpful for people with mobility issues and other disabilities as well.
