When Hudson Williams was 17, he went to a year-end party with his high school classmates, where the tradition was that people wrote and drew on each other. Someone wrote “AIDS” on the back of his neck and a swastika on his forehead.

Whether this constitutes a hate crime is debatable. It’s very obviously homophobic, racist, and cruel. HW has talked about struggling to fit in as a teen, and if these were his peers then no fucking wonder.
