cool. hey fellow usamericans , now i know most people who are Able To Work already make too much to qualify for medicaid bc the standards are ridiculous. so heres whats happening with medicaid.
fun email: Medicaid Is Changing. "Certain Adults", "Impacted Adults" must now meet work requirements. this is very vague wording that also tries to make it sound as if this isnt targeting Everyone. "the new requirement doesnt apply to some adults", they assuage you.
the new work requirement may not impact you if any of these apply: you have a functional limitation or disability. but theres no reveal here of what legal defintion that entails, how this is going to be determined - is it as determined by social security, something ive been waiting Eight Years For? or is it as signed off by a doctor, like food stamps, which has to be renewed yearly, and which ive had doctors refuse to sign because they "believe in me"?
this new requirement Only Applies to Group VIII Individuals. this is trying to put you at ease: clearly thats not me. I have never heard of Group VIII. I have never seen "Group VIII" in medicaid resources, portals, or applications until now, so how in the world could that apply to me.
I have managed to dig up a PDF of all medicaid groups. Group VIII is "Individuals at or below 133% FPL Age 19 through 64". The Vast Majority Of Medicaid Recipients. people between 19 and 64 who Financially Qualify For Medicaid.
to find out if you are part of group VIII, just look at the self service portal account and look on the "My Benefits" page. doesnt that sound so easy? there is no "My Benefits" page. there are pages to view the details of your listed benefits, but they just hold whether you're enrolled, and the end date. there is no group information.
What can I do to learn more? (don't worry, we're here to help.) there is no Exemptions tile. there is no Qualifying Activities tile. you are in blind limbo.
information subject to change. you do not know if you will have access to Any medical care next year. everything we've said has been a lie, because you have no way of knowing if you will be held to these requirements, if you will be allowed to stay on medicaid, how you can "prove" youre unable to work, when any of this will take effect. this is to put both fear and compliance into you. we're sending out this letter Now, informing you of this change that Will Happen, this change to your Benefits That Keep You Alive. it's just a small, reasonable change that's unlikely to affect you, and that we have plenty of transparency about, so there's no need to worry. you cant even really find yet if it Will affect you, so you especially shouldn't worry, put your trust in us. but all of a sudden down the line you lose all medical care unless you throw yourself in the meat grinder. or unless you ... manage to pay a doctor you hope will corroborate that you cant afford to pay doctors.
