This guy is specifically Ceratias uranoscopus and by "anglerfish" I mean specifically the classic black midwater anglers with the glowing lures (other kinds of anglers like the benthic ones with little feeties are common). live midwater anglerfish sightings during ROV and sub surveys are absurdly rare (I've been watching divestreams for like 10 years and have never seen any ever?!) and so we've never actually caught the glowing lure used before. They've been spotted alive before but weren't glowing. Note how it orients itself vertically in the water. Part of the reason for so little footage is that there are very few midwater ocean surveys done in total.
