there’s this concept of “aspie supremacy” where autistic people with overall lower support needs dominate conversations of neurodivergence and do not take into consideration that they have privilege over other disabled and neurodivergent people. yes you ARE autistic and no one can tell you otherwise because they are not in your brain but being autistic and having an intellectual disability are two different things.

@withasmoothroundstone (z''l), Mel Baggs, coined this term and in 2011 wrote "Aspie Supremacy Can Kill" on their WordPress, BallastExistenz. Mel was nonspeaking, experienced institutionalization, and was a prominent autism rights activist until they died in 2020, from neglect via lack of services.
