I recently gave this oc a last name, I called her Yukito Kodugu, with a cold and indifferent personality but I became very fond of her for being direct and affectionate in her own way.

Low-key curious what an interaction between Miss Raven and Malik would look like. 😭

I think that, initially, he’d be excited to see another bird like him around—but since NRC boys tend to be pretty proud and unwilling to be emotionally vulnerable, Malik can’t just ask to be friends. No, that’d be too simple. Instead, he’s gotta play it off like he’s the cool one and she’s going to be so impressed that she begs to be his friend 💀 This attempt to come of as cool backfires because he’s really bad at hiding his positive reactions to praise. And then he ends up being more impressed by Raven than she is by him 🧍‍♂️

(This aspect of Malik’s character is inspired by Iago’s character arc across the two animated films. Iago has a tendency to bully others, like kicking that one flamingo and verbally abusing the Sultan in the first movie. However, Iago does eventually turn a new leaf in the sequel film. Jafar doesn’t respect him or recognize his efforts, whereas the heroes show Iago gratitude and pardon him. Iago’s also just kind of a pathetic little schemer in general. I wanted to incorporate all of these aspects of him in my OC.)

I think it’d be funny if Malik started calling Raven aneki, which is a Japanese term for older sister. Normally you’d use onee-san or onee-chan, but aneki is like… “big sis”, said with an informal, slightly tough/rough connotation, which I think suits Malik. Aneki is also a term often used by delinquents to show respect to an older female gang member, so it makes Raven sound way more intimating than she actually is.

I wouldn’t say Raven is besties with Malik, even if he is very fond of her. She gets that he’s well-meaning, but he’s very… rambunctious and nosy, and his cowardice causes so many messes. He’s her “little brother” in the sense that she has to constantly clean up after him. When she sees him coming her way, the first thing she always asks is, “What now?” But even though Raven is wary of him, she willingly takes responsibility for the guy… so that’s her own fault 😭 To Raven, Malik is like a duckling that imprinted on the first thing it saw after hatching (ie her). And she can’t abadon it out of a sense of obligation. (She has some NRC haughtiness in her too, because she won’t admit she likes the feeling of having someone act like she’s the best thing since sliced bread.)
