There is truly nothing more exhausting than having to hide that you’re mentally ill from people. Sorry that I didn’t reply to your text, I was contemplating suicide. Sorry I forgot your name, I forgot mine too. Sorry I can’t hang out, I need to spend the next few hours spiraling over why I exist
It doesn’t matter if I’ve had a relatively normal day or not. There is not one day where I don’t carry the weight of my trauma on my shoulders, not one day where I do not think of my perpetrators, not one day where I can let myself be safe.
Trauma is drilled so deeply into my brain, I never learned how to.

crazy that every time i try to talk about dissociation or even read about it i start spacing out lol
The DID/OSDD community has this weird thing where they present final fusion and functional multiplicity as being these two mutually exclusive paths in direct contradiction with one another, and that's just not true.
The treatment to achieve FF and FM are literally the same, the only difference is when you stop treatment. In order to achieve FF, you need to first achieve FM. You can't fuse all your alters together if you aren't already functioning fluidly with mostly dismantled amnesia barriers.
And even people going for functional multiplicity will almost always experience at least one fusion during their healing. Fusion is a natural result of integration and healing, especially when processing the trauma held by fragments or less frequently active parts. FM is much easier maintain with a smaller system size. In fact, a lot of the people who achieve FF were initially aiming for FM, and they realized how healing fusion was and how much more functional they became with less parts.
Fear of fusion happens as a result of dissociation, it happens because your brain has wired itself to compartmentalize trauma instead of integrating it, and is convinced that this is the only way to survive. It also happens as the result of the fear of normalcy that many complex trauma survivors have.
Those fears need to be processed during therapy, and it's not optional. You will not be able to achieve genuine functional multiplicity if you are terrified of fusion. That doesn't mean you have to do final fusion, it just means you have to actually work on your dissociation in order to heal from it.
I feel like some people forget that OSDD-1 can be more than OSDD-1a or OSDD-1b.
What do I mean by that? You don’t need to fit strictly into all these boxes because they are just unofficial subtypes of OSDD! OSDD is just a diagnosis for a dissociative disorder that does not meet criteria for any other DD.
Of course, there is no issue with using these terms, but I’m saying this because I’ve met people before in system discovery who anxiously scramble between whether if they have OSDD-1a or OSDD-1b, when simply in reality, there is no need to stress! On paper, it is just OSDD!
honestly, i wish the alter aspect of DID wasn’t so focused on. the dissociation + amnesia is just as horrifying, to watch yourself slip away and find yourself not aware of what’s going on in your own life.
to live with this disorder means to always feel like you are living in someone else’s body and life. to live with this means to dissociate so badly, it tears your social life apart. to forget basic information about your identity, to appear in random places, to lose track of time, to not recognize your own face in the mirror, to lose the ability to function in every area of your life.
im a stranger to my own life. its not just alters.
