Grace and Rocky watching a movie that involves a character having a wound cauterized. Grace is honestly surprised Rocky hasnt said anything or asked a question about the whole thing, (Grace was looking forward to explaining how the process is actually used in modern medicine) But that's cause Rocky is no longer paying attention to the movie and is now trying reallll hard not to have fantasies of cauterizing one of Grace's wounds with his own hands.
I think what Rocky would be into in this case is knowing that there is some reality in which one of the things keeping them physically apart could actually help Grace. And by extension the idea that Rocky would maybe be able to touch Grace again one day and leave another mark
(Unfortunately I think he would be immediately blasted out of this fantasy the minute thinks about it too hard aka remembers that it would mean a lot of things have gone wrong for it to even be an option. Hanahaki disease is a psychosomatic illness. It's a thing that your body does in response to stress over constantly repressing/concealing your feelings in settings with high background magic. It's like you've been ignoring pain for a long time and suddenly your vision starts going dark, because your affected body is just YANKING on random alerts trying to get you to PAY ATTENTION there is a PROBLEM. Yes the flowers do really exist. So do non-magical psychosomatic symptoms. The flowers aren't special.
This does of course open up the trope to options for non-romantic concealed feelings. Which I think is great. There is something viscerally satisfying about the person who seems so outwardly chipper coughing and hacking and spitting up Depression Flowers so now everyone has to know they're hurting. I'm from the US and was taught two but I'm beginning to think this is just a freak thing my school did that has no bearing in the rest of the world
The transition from two to one spaces happened during my adult life. I was there gandalf, deep magic, etc.
Two, Americanly, and it was a FUCKING FRUSTRATING transition.
My grandmother, who is 99, does two spaces (UK) but she was taught to type on typewriters. She also really likes keyboards with super clicky mechanical keys because that she hammers at because that's what typewriters were like.
She hates smartphones and non-tactile keyboards but texts like a champ with a numpad phone. I think she stopped keeping up with technology when she was like 85 so like fair enough let her play spider solitaire on the PC and send emails and Facebook. She's been online since windows 3.1 she deserves a break.
It's my cat's birthday (anniversary of me getting him) so I told him the story of his life while petting him real good

I got you at a time in my life when I was really sick (being sick is like when I'm up late because I'm throwing up and you are a very handsome good boy who sits with me) and they had to put me asleep for a procedure. A procedure is like what happened to you when they put you asleep and took your balls away.
Now you've lived with me for five years. Five is like the number of toe beans on one of your feet. When I clip your nails five is when we're halfway done. But we're hopefully not even halfway done with how long we get to be together. I'm gonna have to figure out new ways to help you count.
