Heck Yeah, Pony Scans!

Did I think Fluttershy bonding with Soundwave's cassettes in the MLP / TF crossover was super cute? Yes.

So, here's how I feel about the Skybound Transformers comic.

It has concepts where I hear about them and I'm like "Wow, that's a cool idea!" For example, one of the Aerialbots dying, Thundercracker defecting, and Thundercracker (spoiler!) becoming part of the Aerialbots' combiner team.

But the execution is so lifeless and shallow. It's like reading a story written by a ten year old, where as soon as they get The Idea they write down The Idea and then they're like "Welp, I'm done!"

Combiner teams are usually pretty tight-knit, the Aerialbots all came online together, and one of their number (Slingshot) died. Not only that, but he was killed by Starscream--you know, the guy who Thundercracker followed and flew with for millennia.

So I would think Thundercracker defecting to the Autobots would cause some complex feelings among the Aerialbots. Maybe distrusting him. Maybe resenting that he is lumped in with them just because he has wings. Perhaps accepting that his defection is a good thing but giving him the cold shoulder or hazing him. Maybe even different Aerialbots having different reactions to Thundercracker being there, you know, as if they're individual people instead of a Greek chorus?

Also, Slingshot (if going off G1 characterization) was not a likable guy. "He won't ever win a Mr. Popularity contest - incessant braggart, takes credit for exploits of other Autobots." So imagine an Aerialbot finding Thundercracker more pleasant to be around. Is it a betrayal to like the company of an ex-Decepticon more than Slingshot, who they had this special bond with? Seems like it would be interesting to explore.

But no, there's no complexity or nuance to the internal lives to these characters, no progression of emotions, there's just the Aerialbots going "We love you Thundercracker :) :) :) We are so glad you are here :) :) :) We totally trust you :) :) :) Slingshot who? :) :) :)"

With G1, I think the Big Brother molds are beautifully sculpted but I don't like that they're "the boy ponies". They should have just been their own pony breed / species, same as flutter ponies or sea ponies.

During the 80’s Korea aired My Little Pony n Friends and from what my friend who knows Korean says it’s called “귀염둥이 포니” which means “Cutie Pony”
