So! It seems like I underestimated how many people knew about all this!
I originally said this as a funny joke but it turns out! This is genuinely an unknown fact. So let me tell you, Natsuki Subaru is the single biggest egg in all of anime and it's not even close, nor is it subtle.
Other things that has been shown or revealed about Natsuki "Totally Cis" Subaru either mentioned off hand or directly stated by her- I mean, him:
- Natsuki Subaru invented a female persona of himself named Natsumi Schwartz, who is a self confident, flirty female version of himself.
- Said Female Persona is directly stated to be his Idealised Self, this happens in the main story and is not side content, he straight up says that it's everything he wants to be and when he embodies it he feels better about himself.
- On at least three separate occasions in the story, when confronted with a need to disguise himself as someone else, Natsuki Subaru's first instinct has been to immediately dress up as a woman and he will endlessly justify it to both the people around him and himself endlessly.
- Natsuki Subaru is canonically REALLY FUCKING GOOD at Make-up and it's called into note a few times
- After his voice outed him in his female highschool debut and after an incident where he needed help from Puck to make his voice sound like a girls so he could pretend to be a rich princess (FOR NO LEGITIMATE FUCKING REASON), he canonically spends like an entire year doing voice training until he can do a convincing feminine voice. Which he can.
- The reason why he knows how to sew so well in season 1 is because of his past experiences with sewing and wearing Women's Clothes.
- One of the times he disguises himself as Natsumi, Natsuki Subaru dressed up not only himself, but also two other men and forced them into dresses and make-up to disguise them as well, this is not played in a transmisogynistic way of "ew, boys in dresses" but in a way of "Natsuki Fucking Subaru, Why Are You So Fucking Good At This and also Why Are You Suggesting This So Hard"
- After said disguise was no longer necessary, every other guy immediately returned to their normal clothes. Subaru on the other hand, continued to wear it despite every single person in the fucking cast at the time continually questioning him, to which he responds that he'll get around to it eventually.
- HE DOESN'T GET AROUND TO IT, HE MAKES UP A NEW EXCUSE TO KEEP BEING NATSUMI INSTEAD
- he also becomes a massive flirt to men in a way that feels slightly too genuine when dressed up as a woman, which isn't really relevant but it's super funny to me. Not escaping the bisexual allegations.
In addition to all of this, Tappei, the author of Re:Zero, once stated that Reinhard has Subaru beat in every single skill except for one, that skill is: Being a woman.
