(Every story is made of tropes, just like how every sentence is made of words. Still, some tropes can feel a bit overused if a storyteller doesn't do something different with them. What do you think could be an interesting variation to this trope? It doesn't need to be elaborate or surprising or original, just something that might appeal to you personally.)

So I’ve seen the idea that dialogue options in Deltarune are Kris’ thoughts, and a lot of the terrible things we can make Kris say or do are the result of intrusive thoughts (ex: weird route)

So what if Kris realized this and decided to tempt the player off the weird route with different, dumber intrusive thoughts (by intentionally trying to thing them up I guess?)

Perhaps they interrupt the chapter 4 weird route cutscene by having intrusive thoughts of singing Cotton Eye Joe

Perhaps they interrupt the “proceed” in some chapter 2 puzzles by jumping into the electricity

Having stupid ideas the player is too curious and impulsive to resist

“Alright, but what if instead we see if I can eat my sword”

grace: “so eridians add ‘question’ to the end of questions? like this, question?”

rocky: yes.

grace: “okay, so then just saying a regular sentence would be like, ‘my name is rocky, statement.’”

rocky: no. grace sound ridiculous. why would anyone say ‘statement’, question? is stupid.

grace: “because you- oh, never mind.”

(later, grace trips)

rocky: grace bad at walk, statement.

grace: “hey, you said you didn’t-”

(rocky chittering/laughing)
