A magic machinations story: Benjamin and the first herbomancer
It wasn't a normal day, benjamin was called to the center of the city, a giant plant was attacking the structure and destroying piping with its roots.
Benjamin was just starting working as a rescuer at the start of the year, seeing all this destruction as a 17 year old showed him how truly important this work is.
The screams were deafening, the noise of the destruction struckbenjaminÂŽs iron ears.
As a technomancer his duty is using his steel form to protect others and give protection to the people evacuating, he saw how the vines broke walls and Windows, he must contain the danger.
He breathed in and changed into his steel form, metal plates covered his body reinforcing him, his iron hands strong as ever and he charged forwards.
As people evacuated he held off, slicing the coming vines and thorns, he walked forwards towards the center of the plant observing the giant bulb.
The Monster became more violent and while Benjamin was agile, he didn't Dodge in time, a vine sending him towards a wall and trying to break his body with all its might.
Benjamin baredly could move, he was hurt but not scared, he remembered the teachings of his grandmother, how to talk with the plants and fungi, and while he could talk he did his best to listen.
He Heard the screams, the pain, and realized the plant did not want to do this. He whispered to it and the roots holding him towards the wall gave up.
He remained calm and moved forward towards the bulb, a voice almost calling him.
Flowers blossomed under his steps, and as he got close, the flower snapped shut, trapping him inside it.
He passed out and in his unconsciousness he saw her, a girl no older than him, chained and stabbed from thorns that grew from the inside, she cried sap, her hair made of petals, her hand blossoming from flowers on her arms.
Her blood was colorless and she was inside his mind.
He ran towards her to try and help but she only said-âi'm sorry for thisâŠ. I will die soonâŠ. I will make sure of thatâ.
Benjamin tried comforting her but she spoke again-"I don't want To be the Monster that is outside but I was scared To die until You whispered To me⊠now I know that I don't have To die alone".
Benjamin felt how the bulb closed more and more as the air started To leave his lungs -"You don't have To do this"- he said both for self preservation and the safety of this girl-"there must be a better solution".
The girl chuckled and downed her head -"I do have, as long as I live he Will use me for destruction".
"At Least this way I can stop it for good"- she said as her voice started To tear up -"the pain can finally end".
"Who did this To you"- Benjamin asked- "who is using You? I promise I can stop him".
"It's no use, he is Miles away from here, My mission Will be over before You can reach him"-she proclaimed.
"don't be pessimistic"- said Benjamin fearing for his life yet he can't show it- "if You free me I can stop him before You fully close this bulb, I promise"- he said opening his arms.
"If You promise then, i think i don't lose anything, thank You for making me company⊠have luck out there"
Benjamin gets spit out of the bulb and gets up on his feet, he tells the other members of the rescue team To cease all attacks and starts running like never before.
Overclocking his core To reach the location, he moved so fast that he cutted through the air, somehow he knew where the controlar was almost as if the girl was telling him.
He broke into the building and reached the room of the controller, and in his speed he phased through him breaking him in half, covered in the Scarlet liquid he started To try finding ways To stop the plant.
He ended up breaking the control panel and escaping The building and running back To the bulb.
He reached and as he approached To whisper To it, the moment he touched it, it blew up.
Among the pollen and plant matter Benjamin Saw the girl fall To the wreckage, in less than a second he caught her in the air and runned towards a place where she could get Medical help.
He finds a hospital near a local park, they do their Best with the lack of information and manage To stabilize her vitals.
Regarding her mutations, there was nothing they could do, Benjamin stayed by her side as she recovered.
He fell asleep by the side of the hospital bed, his body tired from overclocking, exhausted until.
"You kept your promise"- spoke the girl- "yet it seems that i'm still a Monster simply smaller" -the girl stared at her hands- "i'm no human, not anymore".
"SO what?"- responds Benjamin in his steel form- "I'm not fully human either but I promise You that we can find a way To fix it, ok?".
"Do You truly believe that?" -she asked, he replied,- "of course, My family is known for fixing problems, but still You are no Monster, You areâŠ. A herbomancer ,how does that sound?".
"It's comforting i suppose, thank You"- she looks confused for a second- " oh i do not know your name may You Tell me it".
"Gladly, i AM benjamin sharper ferreo local hero and defender of the people, and i'm glad To be here to help You. Now how about You tell me your name".
"I can't remember it sadly" -she said in a sad voice, promting benjamin To say- "well how do You want me To call You"
She thinks for a second and says.
Call me... buttercup
That's a Nice name
