My anthro professor has three forbidden words for his essays: problematic, interesting, and large. Point being theyāre all filler words, he wants you to just skip straight to why itās interesting or why itās problematic. But anyway, any time I disagree with him in class I say to him āmm, interesting, but largely problematic.ā
i hope that one day i will finally be okā¦.iāll make a cherry pie when it is all over

This is one of the coolest things Iāve ever seen, so I had to learn more ā and discovered that thereās also a cool story behind it! Photographer Jim Richardson in National GeographicĀ tells all:
Today itās time for confession and this is a pretty good picture to be confessing about. There I was in Scotland, just happily looking through the viewfinder of a Nikon N90 (sweet camera for the era) mounted on my 80-200 f/2.8 Nikkor sitting on a tripod, staring at Rusty and Tufty, two of the hulkiest Highland cattle I had ever seen. I was there photographing whisky country for National Geographic Traveler magazine and so I was in the Highlands town of Dalwhinnie, home of the eponymous whisky. Highland ācoosā (as the Scots like to call them) are not exactly a profound photographic subject but I wasnāt feeling particularly profound, anyway. I just couldnāt think of anything better to point my camera at.
When suddenly, out of nowhere, this guy with Mohawk hair and a leather jacket walked into my viewfinder. I never saw him coming at all. Hardly had a chance to pop my head over the camera to see if what I was seeing in the viewfinder was, in fact, real when he pulled out a loaf of white bread and started feeding Rusty and Tufty, who seemed to be well acquainted with the drill. Recovering swiftly (I try to do that when good fortune rescues me from my general incompetence), I hit the motor drive and let it run.

Since I've never touched a baby bird but I've been curious: what does it feel like to touch the starling? Are they heavy or light? How do those quills feel? The weird fuzz and paper thin leathery skin? (Sorry if this comes across as weird, but I've been wondering pretty much my whole life)
The flesh of the animal is hotter than what you are used to, hotter than a human child or a young dog. The small body is dense to begin with, the adult bird will feel lighter than the offspring, though this may be merely an illusion of size. The skin is tissue thin, wrinkled, and moves under your fingers easily: this body is ready to expand at a seemingly unnatural pace. The pins come out at great bother to the animal, the feeling is similar to cat claws without the razor sharp tips. The feathers break out well formed, reducing the pin sheathes to dust. The thin, long, legs are not strong enough to support the body weight, the mouth is damp and lined with soft downwards facing "teeth" to encourage food down. Every day that passes the eyes look at you with more recognition, more judgement, more knowing.
Lol
They're watching you!
why would you censor the ops name
women would flock to him otherwise
Fun Fact, thats, more or less, something that wealthy people in China and Japan did, they were called āmusical floorboards.ā Designed to squeak when stood upon. A person could make noise all the way down a corridor.
The residents and servants knew which floorboards made a sound and avoided them. But a burglar, or assassin didnāt. If you heard the creaking of floorboards, you knew danger was coming.
Even better, despite what movies may show, a lot of the old west was founded by Chinese immigrants, so there could have been carpenters around who knew how to make the musical floorboards!
They were also called Nightingale Floors, and looking up to make sure I had the right term, I found they were super clever! They were more than just ill-fit boards or whatever makes floors creak normally, they actually used little metal bars under the boards placed into small holes in the boards to cause the creak.

Thinking about something
idk why i just remembered this but all throughout kindergarten and first grade i used to draw a lil snail in the corner of every paper i had to turn in because it was a happy snail so i thought it would make my teachers happy when they were grading papers because i was a pure and simple child but in 2nd grade my teacher would take off 2 points if i drew it on my homework and 5 points if i drew it on a quiz or test so i stopped but like it was so harmless it was just a lil shitty doodle of a smiling snail it wasnāt distracting me or anything from the task at hand so iād like to say to mrs whoeverthefuck that snail was supposed to be a happy thing u bitch
This perfectly describes what is wrong with our education system

I donāt really know what people generally call this method of sigil making, so Iām just calling it āLetter Shapingā because youāre using the basic shapes from certain letters. This is the most common form of sigil making, and it allows the most creative influence. As you see above the sigils are for nearly the same thing, yet the sigils came out completely different. Not because the purpose was different, but because I approached them both a different creativeĀ way, and thatās what I like so much about this method. Thereās a lot of freedom and personalization involved.
(UPDATE: Hereās a link to a guide on how to deconstruct letters down to basic shapes)
