I don't know who needs to hear this but... start living. The days are flying by and all you do is work, pay bills, and stress. Enjoy what you can like walks, sunsets, music, laughter. Joy doesn't have to be expensive. You deserve it.
i miss when subscriptions didnt really exist and you could just pay one time to buy an app or some software, and then just.. have it. without ads. without recurring costs. without more paywalls. it was just yours forever.
environmental storytelling.
why does it take SO much energy to keep your house only sort of clean

My emotions about space travel, and the history of, are strong today.
i love that almost everyone has their own unique bedrooms thats such a cute human thing
no bedroom looks the same just like no human is the same. are you getting what im putting down here
you walk into someones room and its like walking into a part of their soul This is so special to me <3
this reminds me of a series of photographs documenting how different people live in identical base apartments
My hottest fanfiction take is I think people should stop posting multi-fandom oneshots as a single fic with like 50+ chapters and instead post them as individual fics
to me, correctly using 5+ commas in a single sentence is like perfectly executing a combo in a fighting game. to me.
if you think a sentence needs 5+ commas it should be two sentences
itâs not about what the sentence needs, iâm afraid, nor is it about economy, clarity, or style. itâs about winning, little-theatre-fairy.
Comment on my MA thesis:
late night reminder to self: your depressive episode will not last forever. it will have an end. tonight will not be the end of you.
Hey guess what i saw this a few days ago when i was in an absolutely scary slump and then i spoke to my counsellors and did what they told me to do and now i feel so much better. So this is true. Reblogging for more good luck
why is this so beautiful in like a space way
Because the essence of humanity and life as a whole is a constellation of connections with one another. We are all here in this cosmos together, from the tiniest creatures to the distant stars.
You're not alone.
you got lots of company, and you're gonna be okay đŤ

guys iâm so sorry to say this but exercising and indulging in hobbies rather than scrolling on your phone for 200 hours actually does improve your mood and overall mental health, this has deeply upset me more than anyone
when applied to drinks, "dry" means "without sugar". therefore it follows that sugary drinks can be called "wet". the meanings of the terms "hot" and "cold" when applied to drinks are obvious. thus the aspect of any drink can be determined.
for instance, green tea, freshly steeped and served without additives, is hot and dry, and therefore has an aspect of fire.
a mocha, on the other hand, while hot, is sweet, and therefore wet, and thus has an an aspect of air.
lemonade, which is wet and cold, has a water aspect.
finally, the drink which most epitomizes the earth aspect, being both cold and dry, is vodka
We have once again returned to the four humors
what song comes to your mind when you hear the word âtonightâ
Why the fuck are you 30+ on tumblr
this is my house?
putting butter on toasted bread is so good has anyone else tried this shit
intersring dish. drop the recipe
Im so glad you asked! In my family, weâre a little different. For generations, butter has been a staple ingredient in all of our recipes. It all started in 1943 when my great grandfather Jo discovered cows. As a youngster he used to churn milk while watching the family of mourning doves on the neighbors land fight over the plumpest worms each morning. The doves feeding their children inspired grandpa Jo so much throughout the years that an idea sparked in his head. He then started the family business we all know as Boâs kitchen (changed it to Bo for the letter B from butter.)
One day a young woman named Margeryne came into our shop and excitedly declared she also enjoyed making food in the shape of a rectangle. Upon hearing this grandpa Jo almost called his lawyer to file a lawsuit, assuming if anyone else found a way to make food in the shape of a rectangle it must be a stolen copy of our one-of-a-kind melt-in-your-mouth butter recipe. But he stopped dead in his tracks when he heard her call this rectangular food a âLoaf.â We stared in awe at her creation for what felt like hours. Thatâs when I tried bread for the very first time. It was shockingly delicious and wonderfully fluffy.
But, even then, I had never thought about putting butter on top of bread before. In this recipe I will show you how two rectangular foods combine to make something even greater, something that will make you say Mmmmm! like youâve never said it before.
Ingredients:
- butter
- bread
Directions:
Toast 2 slices of bread, spread a pad of butter on the tops of each, serve warm.
2 stars. it was terrible. idk what went wrong, i replaced the bread with a brick and the butter for cement paste to cut back on carbs (im on the curbs diet) and it just tasted like rocks. WTF. đĄđĄ

things english speakers know, but donât know we know.
WOAH WHAT?
That is profound. I noticed this by accident when asked about adjectives by a Japanese student. She translated something from Japanese like âBrown big catâ and I corrected her. When she asked me why, I bluescreened.
What the fuck, English isnât even my first language and yet I picked up on that. How the fuck. What the fuck.
Reasoning: It Just Sounds Right
Oooh, donât like that. Nope, I do not even like that a little bit. Thatâs parting the veil and looking at some forbidden fucking knowledge there.
How did I even learn this language wtf
I had to read âbrown big catâ like three times before my brain stopped interpreting it as âbig brown catâ
Iâm kinda reading âbrown big catâ as âbrown (big cat)â, that is, a âbig catâ - like a tiger or lion or other felid of similar size - that happens to be brown. âBig brown catâ, on the other hand, sounds more like a brown cat thatâs just a bit bigger than a regular housecat - like a bobcat or a maine coon cat or something like that.
yeah, a brown big cat is almost certainly a puma. a big brown cat is probably a maine coon.
yeah, if you put the adjectives out of order you wind up implying a compound noun, which is presumably why we have this rule; we stripped out so much inflection over the centuries word order now dictates a huge amount of our grammar
Just looked up why we do this and one of the first lines in this article is, âAdjectives are where the elves of language both cheat and illumine reality.â so I know itâs a good article.
Things this article has taught me:
This same order of adjectives more or less applies to languages around the world. âItâs possible that these elements of universal grammar clarify our thought in some way,â says Barbara Partee, a professor emeritus of linguistics and philosophy at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. Yet when the human race tacitly decided that shape words go before color words go before origin words, it left no record of its rationale.
One theory is that the more specific term always falls closer to the noun. But that doesnât explain everything in adjective order.
Another theory is that as you get closer to the noun, you encounter adjectives that denote more innate properties. In general, nouns pick out the type of thing weâre talking about, and adjectives describe it,â Partee told me. She observes that the modifiers most likely to sit right next to nouns are the ones most inclined to serve as nouns in different contexts: Rubber duck. Stone wall.
Rules are made to be broken. Switching up the order of adjectives allows you to redistribute emphasis. (If you wish to buy the black small purse, not the gray one, for instance, you can communicate your priorities by placing color before size). Scrambling the order of adjectives also helps authors achieve a sense of spontaneity, of improvising as they go. Wolfe discovers such a rhythm, a feeling-his-way quality, when he discusses his childhood recollection of âbrown tired autumn earthâ and a âflat moist plug of apple tobacco.â
Brain scans have discovered that your brain has to work harder to read adjectives in the âwrongâ order.
TL;DR: No one knows why we do this adjective thing but itâs pretty hardwired in.
@deadcatwithaflamethrower Linguistics tidbit.
Since itâs never credited, this is from Mark Forsythâs The Elements of Eloquence, and just one reason why I think itâs required reading for anyone interested in prosecraft. Every page is this useful.
i donât know how to explain to you people that no matter what a countryâs government is like i do not and will not support the US indiscriminately bombing that countryâs civilians and i donât know why thatâs a controversial take tbh
âoh iran is a dictatorship!â âoh palestine is homophobic!â i donât care like literally i donât care thatâs not a problem to be solved by other countries blowing innocent people up
