what made u start liking polytrix? like what was the thing about the ship dynamic, world of kpdh, or anything really, that did it for you?
i watched the movie when it first released w my kid sibling, and didn't think much of it beyond it being a great/solid movie. so i've been kinda baffled at just how explosively popular it's become on ao3 and in fandom spaces lol.
i'm a big fan of ur writing tho – oh, while i'm on the subject, i read devil recently and i'm blown away by the staggering depth and interiority of every character, a true tour de force of writing – so while kpdh's not my cup of tea, i'd love to hear about why it's yours 🫶🤍!!

as for polytrix…
first of all i think it helped that i didn’t watch it in the context of it being a kids movie, i just thought it ruled for me specifically
secondly, i love Love LOVE secrets. and this one has so many!!! on the surface level, idols are characters. they are real people but they have media personas & roles & that’s a kind of a secret, you don’t know everything about them. purposefully in order to draw people in to learn more, & also to like control what is said & to form a narrative. and then the layer under that is these idols are actually Also demon hunters & so that adds so much delicious food for thought. & then ofc the next later is rumi’s secrets hiding that she is a half demon. & then there is the secrets in the movie itself with jinu lying to rumi & rumi lying to her girls & basically it lends itself to fanfic SUPER well imo bc people like to build fanfic out of “what if“ moments & secrets naturally create ambiguity & depth & doubt. what other secrets have been kept? what did they do to keep this secret? where did they actually go when they were off screen in x screen? how far would they go to keep their secret?
thirdly, i adore characters like Rumi she’s basically the top tier trifecta for me: 1) thinks there is smth fundamentally wrong with herself; 2) is massively talented & works massively hard to make up for that; and 3) has a tremendous amount of hope & kindness & love for others
as for polytrix the ship.. it’s super clear they love each other a lot & i rly like how different they all are & it’s fun to write!
I think The Thing that drew me in to kpdh was two moments in How It’s Done (the coolest intro sequence ever) - Rumi’s “go, hunt, kill” moment where she stands back n lets mira n zoey take the lead fighting demons on the plane & then the second moment was Rumi just before she jumps out of the plane I was like oh this is so cool OH THIS IS SO COOL. & then Rumi hits that note in how it’s done n im like oh im Hooked.

unintentionally made yelena look like nat and hurt my own feelings 💔 kate's outfit is inspired by marvel rivals hawkeye! i had a random drawing session and remembered bishova exes au i was thinking about a lot, ill rant about it under the post
bishova exes - established avenger yelena and vigilante kate.
they dated previously some time after hawkeye events - kate hopeful and naive about hero work, yelena resentful of any hero bullshit, still haunted by her past. they fall hard for each other but for some reason can't make it work (mainly yelena).
the best i can describe their falling out is by olivia rodrigo songs the cure and less - highly recommend checking them out (the cure is so yelena coded its insane guys i've been haunted by the visions since the release of the song).
they both need to mature and find themselves outside the relationship first. so they dramatically end things. triple homicide - kate is hurt, yelena is hurt, we are hurt. idk the details maybe yelena ghosts kate after a big fight, unaddressed fears and insecurities, they say things they don't mean etc etc
some time after thunderbolts events - yelena now is an established avenger saving people from world ending threats, being praised and paraded in media. and kate is an underground vigilante trying her best to protect everyday people, dealing with so much crime and injustice, facing the worst kind of people.
they finally reunite when kate gets recruited for an important avenger gig - it's the first time they saw each other since the break up. and there's so much feelings between them - heartbreak, longing, guilt, hope, pride, resentment, anger, love (just imagine thunderbolts reactions to yelena suddenly having so much tension and beef with hawkeye jr lol)
also the perspective change for both of them is sooo good - yelena finally stepping into the hero light and seeing meaning in helping people. and kate first hand experiencing the price, responsibility and weight that comes with being a hero/vigilante. and so they understand each other fully now.
and this just eats my brainnnn. the complicated feelings of it all. right person wrong time. can they rebuild the trust and overcome their personal struggles? the mix of being resentful of the person for breaking your heart, but still feeling so proud of them for becoming who they are. being butt hurt over how you ended things, but still hoping. still loving each other but thinking other person moved on.

sigh I’ve always wanted to write a dnd au i tried Years ago for Ellie x Dina & i tried for critical role but it has never worked. i cannot listen to the siren song i don’t know how i could make it work for kpdh
the problem is that worldbuilding is my all time favourite procrastination technique & i would absolutely want to do it. the other problem is now im thinking about how on earth to make it work & it could be a very fun portal fantasy…
at the core of it, right, portal fantasy is about either escape or change bc it very literally has your characters leave the place they are in for a different place. so to me it would have to be a story in which each of them are trying to escape something & they come into this magical world & have to do smth that changes them enough that they can change back in the “real” world. i think it would be cool if they step through via different mediums, like zoey could be a video game & i love the idea of comic book fan mira.

we already know what their weapons are..do they come packed with world typical memories? that would be rly fun in terms of like what if one of them regains their memories first and is like oh shit i just stabbed a goblin but i was on the bus yesterday what the fuck
zoey has her shinkal ofc. im thinking like a triton or smth, she’s supposed to be an ambassador for her people under the sea but no one is listening to her until she runs into these girls. & isn’t that a gut punch? they don’t know her realm, her ocean, her people. why does everyone listen to THEM and not her?
mira has her gokdo. a princess (human?) ran away from her tower. stole the armour and weapons of the palace guard (prison guard more like). she just wants to be free and alone but it turns out that the world is huge and frightening and she needs people. these girls aren’t intimidated by her (much) and they don’t care about her gold or her name and that should be a good thing. right? but. what does she have to offer? she’s no one & nothing.
and rumi. has her sword & shield. tiefling oop i gotta go to dinner ok ill keep thinking abt it
