the problem with voice acting these days is that nobody sounds properly fucked up anymore. every time they need someone to play a weird guy or a creature it's just some dude with a traditional handsome guy voice gargling a little. it's like trying to use a picrew to make an old person.
I've seen a lot of people talk about how circus is a genuinely good show with meaningful life themes and they aren't wrong that the themes are incredibly touching but its kind of agonizing to sit through when the other half of the show is miniature online reference exhausting one liner jokes and 4th wall breaking uncreative humor and destroying suspension of disbelief by reminding every viewer that they're watching a funny show. It's a mix between "I'm not the target audience" because the humor has only hit for me maybe 5 times the entire series, but I think it's valid to be kind of angry that a show with such well thought out themes is so cringe inducing to sit through because it doesn't respect itself. The best shows I've ever seen are always a mix of "funny when it's serious and serious when it's funny" but this show whiplashes you between either solid funny or solid serious which is a very unpleasant experience imo

i love how weird kids are. they make up the most bizarre stuff when left to their own devices and it's never what an adult would naively predict a kid would do in their imaginative play
my friend's 5 year old recently got a toy veterinary medicine set - it's super cool, like one of those mini play kitchens a lot of kids have, but it's set up to pretend to be a vet (it's this thing) - it has stuffed animals and things to weigh them, give them medicine, take x-rays, write on their charts, etc.
so this kid, who is five and to my knowledge has no experience in the administrative bureaucracy of modern healthcare, puts a stuffed pig named Piggy on the exam table. she pretends to draw blood from Piggy using a fake syringe, and the blood goes into a toy test tube vial that she calls "the resulter"
i'm playing with her, right, so i'm like, awesome, what are the results of Piggy's blood test? and she says "we have to send it to the scientists." so we send the vial to the scientists (put it in her bedroom) and when we get back to the vet playset i'm like awesome what did the scientists say? and she says they have not gotten back to us yet
so she rolls her eyes, exasperated, and says we have to call the scientists. she pretends to call them. apparently, they tell her that Piggy's blood test is "at the bottom of the list" and "we have to WAIT." she frowns. we wait a bit longer and call them back. they tell us it will be a while! she says we should go ask the scientists in person so we go back to her bedroom and she inquires at this imaginary lab, at which point the scientists yell at her and tell her now they will make us wait even longer!
keep in mind she is 100% directing this play. she is making all this up. she is fully in control of this game, and she has decided that what we are going to pretend is that we are dealing with this exhausting nonsense, not actually treating Piggy.
finally the blood tests come back. they are inconclusive. the scientists do not know what is wrong with Piggy. the little girl walks back to the stuffed pig on the exam table, sighs deeply, and says in a very serious voice "we can never help you."
i'm obsessed with this kid. when given complete control over a make believe scenario, instead of becoming the heroic rescuer administering effective cures, she is instead a beleaguered vet making multiple calls to an overworked lab only to be left unable to help her patient.
10/10 no notes. kids are amazing
hi we are really small fish we are swim in a single file
There was a dry spot on my inner elbow that I moisturized with lotion and the hydrated skin cells ended up living long enough to flake off in a clump at the same time I was jaywalking across the highway, and it was a very windy day with a lot of pollen and it ended up collecting on a car's windshield, which built up the exact threshold of debris to make the driver squirt cleaner to wipe the windows, and in that action they brought back the memory of a beautiful sunny beach vacation with their wife 4 years back, and a sudden wave of melancholy made them stop gently at the yellow light instead of taking a risky left turn in front of a SUV with a family of 5, which were on their way to celebrate Aunt Frankie's first place win at the local dog grooming competition where she sculpted a poodle into the shape of a hotdog stand, and while her 8 year old niece came running to hug her she bumped into a young man with hyper vigilant anxiety which made his heart start racing for a while, and made his body need calories which triggered hunger a few minutes later, so he headed over to his favorite sandwich shop to get a turkey sub with extra olives (he didn't used to like them but his boyfriend loves them and eventually convinced him to try) and the bread was toasted perfectly and had just the right amount of mayonnaise and he watched the house sparrows build a nest outside and for the first time in a while, everything felt okay.
this sewing pattern just touched me while i was in the middle of reading it

My boyfriend was showing me his cat and I leaned over to kiss the cat on his soft little baby head and he went "meow" and scrambled away because I'd been wearing my headphones and I accidentally jabbed him with the microphone.
And I said "Damn, this is exactly like in the Iliad"
#explanation: this references the scene where Hektor the prince of troy goes to his wife after a battle and leans in to kiss his son #(who is still a baby and being held in andromache's arms) #but his son cringes away in fear of his father's battle helmet #it's a gut wrenching scene about how war dehumanizes you and separates you from the people you love #this interpretation implies that being a gamer is analogous
i love these colors on him theyy are great
