Critters, it's feeling like we need to have the same type of chat we had back in campaign 2, and I'm not going to hold your hand this time.
We've been here so many times before, and these things need to sink in once and for all. They are playing characters. These characters are flawed. DEEPLY flawed, even. Particularly toward the beginning of the campaign, they are NOT going to be their best selves all the time. They are going to make mistakes, they are going to do things you may not personally like, they are going to be immature, they are going to argue with each other, there is going to be tension.
THIS IS HOW CHARACTER GROWTH HAPPENS. It is in its beginning stages right now. Most of these characters are just getting to know one another, and they do not all trust one another yet. All of them are flawed. All of them have work to do, all of them have room to grow. That is the POINT of telling a character-driven story. You can't beg for complex characters and then get upset when it's not always happy rainbow sunshine time.
Also, tension between characters is not the same thing as tension between actors. You don't need to parasocially step in on any cast member's behalf. They are quite capable of handling any issues amongst themselves, as proven multiple times in the past.
Thoughtful critique is great, but that's not what some of y'all are doing. You'll have far more fun if you embrace the tension, embrace the character development, sit back, and enjoy the show instead of whining every time it's not exactly what you want it to be.
its just that sabran and ead actually fell for each other like ead wasnt sent there to court her or make her love her she just was sent there to protect her by the priory. worked in her court. told sabran the truth when everyone else told her what she wanted to hear. sabran then obviously had never had that happen before and hasnt even been outside her CASTLE bro like her whole 28 years shes been sheltered and her only "friends" are basically servants and Loth and loth is gone ! then theres ead who she notices only randomly basically after 8 years of working for her and falls for her! (not rly randomly but like whatever read the book) and eads just treating her like a human and not a figurehead and thats what she needed 😭 ALSO eads literally HIDING HER IDENTITY sabran thinks shes the only one that tells her the truth and she is but she is also LYING. ABOUT EVERYTHING ABOUT HER. and sabran values that shes the only one truthful with her when under it all shes lying just like everyone else but ugghhh LITERALLY SABRANS WHOLE LIFE IS A LIE TOO THO like. her whole religion her whole world her whole everything shes known is a big ole fat juicy lie and shes felt her whole life like shes just a womb for the next queen and fuuuck
ALSO OUGH eads out here just caring for sabran like putting roses under her pillow so she can sleep like thats so sweet man but she doesnt even think shes down bad shes like surely this is normal. and i LOVE SABRAN shes so bold when she grabs eads hand in front of roslain (i think) and then thanks her and kisses her cheek like girl is so bold!!!!!! howd she get so bold!!!!!! and when theyre hunting and theyre flriting with each other just in front of her ladies they musta been like 👀 eads got the sauce...?
im not done tho and im not there in my reread yet but when loth and ead make it back to inys. and theyve saved sabran and loth ead and her are talking - last time loth was here, ead and sabran didnt know each other. they became close while he was exiled so now they have a whole new dynamic. eads like bantering with her and talking back and theyre being almost rude and loth is just there like whaaaatt the fuckkk did i miss???????? do you need to be alone like am i interrupting WHAT is happening.
