I've always been really confused about the world culture of Fallout, especially before the collapse.
Like it's my understanding that the timeline diverges from our own after WW2, with the United States entering a golden atomic age driven by relentless xenophobic and expansionist conquest, plunging the world into a fascistic death spiral that lead to the resource wars and nuclear armageddon. And to deliver that bleak premise with a satirical edge, it's canonical that American culture is, at least by the 2070s when the world ends, stuck in a sort of neo 50s obsession where the only music and art that's popular enough to survive the nukes is all stuff that originated more than a century beforehand.
Like I get that the criticism being made is that a culture obsessed with its own past is indicative of a bleak present crushed by imperialism and nationalism, but can you really expect me to believe that Fallout's American empire was so bad that culture and art and aesthetics were just. Frozen in time for more than 100 years? Addicted to their own past? That the American people were so embroiled in reactionary ideologies that they were incapable of moving forward and creating anything new?
Anyway did you hear they're rebooting Malcolm in the Middle this year? And the Mummy. And the Devil Wears Prada. And Masters of the Universe. And Meet the Parents. And a 5th toy story movie. And a moana remake.
Could mean nothing.
guy who plays albums on mute, it was never really about sound for him as much as feeling a sense of progression through a series of named durations
i bought the new Lego Tower of Babel set but the instructions stop making sense about halfway through the little booklet thingy.

How safe is at home laser hair removal stuff? Its super expensive to get it done at a salon and for the treatment it costs to do a face I can get one of the at-home laser hair removal kits
It doesn't work.
The kind of laser you need for laser hair removal is neither safe to operate if you're not trained and equipped for it nor affordable for anyone but salons.
Electrolysis is more doable
Sufficiently powerful lasers will damage your eyesight or even blind you merely via the beam being within your field of vision or the light scattering off a surface into your eyes. You need protective glasses that filter that specific lasers wavelength, and while you can get sketchy laser machines online, they either don't include safety glasses or include ones that do not work. And sometimes on top of "oops all blindness" they don't even work for their advertised purpose.
Please go to a dermatologist or other professional, the risks here aren't worth it.
the most delectable secret
oh, could i only tell you…
Us fandom adults should really just go on strike. 3 months minimum where we don't post fic, we don't comment, we don't buy merch. Then we’ll see how fun the Lego Ninjago community is for anyone under 60 😂

how do people not see "changing your sex requires acceptance by transphobes to Really Count" as the most transphobic statement you could possibly conjure. might i remind you that most transphobes do not believe nonbinary people to be a thing, to name one?? do you just believe they aren't "socially" (read: "in a way that matters") nonbinary?????? do the social consequences of stating you are nonbinary, of medically transitioning if you do so, just disappear because a transphobe said "nuh-uh"?

Tomorrow when the farm boys find this freak of nature, they will wrap his body in newspaper and carry him to the museum.
But tonight he is alive and in the north field with his mother. It is a perfect summer evening: the moon rising over the orchard, the wind in the grass. And as he stares into the sky, there are twice as many stars as usual.

Our local childrens museum is doing a big renovation and auctioning off stuff from their warehouse I'm trying and failing to convince myself we don't need a giant coleman lamp shaped like a lighthouse we don't need whimsical bumper cars
/Gripping the knees of my jeans in despair/ MY ONE YEAR OLD DOESN'T NEED A FUNCTIONING HORRIFYING ANIMATRONIC TREE!!! HE DOESN'T!!!
