Congrats Grace!
for the record im not technially 100% anti-AI, in the sense that its a broad category of tech being lumped under one umbrella term so it feels over-zealous to say i hate all of it all the time forever. but i also think trying to discuss what it actually IS good for is difficult right now when i cant take one step without something trying to convince me to use chatgpt to summarize my life and speed up my hobbies and turn my friends into chatbots and optimize my life into oblivion. i am certain there is nuance to the topic but can we stop cramming the square peg into the round hole before you start trying to sell me on the legitimate benefits of the square peg. please.
Neural Nets have existed for decades and are genuinely useful. It's a form of AI that recognizes patterns, and can do stuff like identify cancer cells, tell whether an egg is fertilized or not, detect fraud, and optimize routes.
Those are Expert Systems, tuned to do exactly one thing. If you (say) ask a medical expert system a question about financial law, it's useless. The autopilot that flies a 787 has no idea how to drive a truck on the freeway. A Coulter Counter is excellent at identifying lymphocytes in a blood sample but can't predict the next card in a blackjack game.
And so on.
The problem with so-called generalized AI (AGI) is that we don't have that yet. It doesn't exist. It MIGHT some day, but AGI has been "10 years away" since the 1980s. The goals keep moving as we learn more about how people and machines process data.
But the current crop of AI techbros have been selling generative Large Language Model AI (LLM) as AGI because generative systems do a good job of faking it. There's no actual thought going on, merely the illusion of thought via predicting the next word in a sentence accurately.
If you let a human toddler listen to 800 hours of YouTube car influencer videos, that toddler might end up sounding like a car influencer. They'd parrot horsepower numbers and 0 to 60 times, mention EV range and MSRP numbers.
But they wouldn't understand any of it.
That's ChatGPT.
And yeah, it's worse than useless because it doesn't even know when it's lying or hallucinating. It just babbles convincingly until you stop it.
But for techbros to make money selling that as "AI"? It's the perfect scam, especially if you don't understand how it works.
I fucking hate it.
here is my updated Visual Voiceover Reel, i finally added a bunch of roles i've been wanting to include, if you're looking for a voice actor, hit me up ;)

in space no one can hear you moan like a girl
Ground control here, we can hear you just fine
actually fucking disgusting that glasses cost any money like if you actually think about it for more than a few seconds it is so unconscionably inhumane. this goes for things like insulin and mobility aids and hearing aids too ofc but fuck man, fucking glasses? the thing you need to fucking see? its genuinely sickening and inhumanly evil that those cost ANYTHING.
I think people would be less suicidal if they were allowed to talk about being suicidal without risk of being sent to the Torture Dungeon

I really like how the scientology speedrunning trend is developing, in this clip we see that the participants are
Not deterred by the closed door
Working as a group
Protecting their identities
Inflicting material costs to the institution via property destruction
Getting away at the end
These ideas were not all here from the beginning. They are genuinely gaining experience that can be applied elsewhere
The church of scientology is on tumblr and they are sending me anon asks telling me that they can't even commit to reporting a post
Hello guys, sorry for long time no art but Iāve been busy on my other platforms sharing resources and news for the Black Lives Matter movement, so art is currently on pause.
Either way, this is a guide I illustrated for user chivrik on Instagram on how to properly blur and de-trace protest photos. Many protesters have gone missing or turned up dead because they were traced through images they appeared on. Donāt help pigs and protect one another. ACAB and Black lives always matter.
If you need tips on protests, what is acab, defunding/reform of police, how to stay safe and links for charities/petitions, my Instagram is @/paperballz and there are saved highlights with the information. Or you can dm me.
honestly as someone whoās worked a bit w/ this kind of thing, blacking out identifying features with squares in ms paint is probably the most effective way of censoring peopleās faces. I donāt know what exactly the police are capable of extracting from blurred images, but itās definitely more than what theyāll get from deleted pixels, and when youāre spreading images of protesters you should be as careful as possible.
[id: Informational guide that reads: āA small guide to blurring out faces.
Why should I even care about it?ā This is followed by a selection of news articles and tweets reading: āMysterious Deaths Leave Ferguson Activists āOn Pins and Needlesāā; āA List of All Suspicious Deaths of Ferguson Activistsā; Deaths of Ferguson activists lead some to believe something sinister is at play"; āWhy Are So Many Ferguson Protesters Dying? Activists wonder is Theyāre Being Targetedā; ā@NewJerseyOAG put a moratorium on Clearview AIās chilling, unregulated facial recognition softwareā; āSix young men with connections to the Ferguson protests, including Crawford, have died in the 4 ½ years following the demonstrationsā; and āSeeking Information on Individuals Inciting Violence During First Amendment-Protected Peaceful Demonstrations.ā
The guide continues: āWhat to do before blurring: Use a clone stamp tool in Photoshop over a personās face and other identifiable features. To be completely safe add multiple emojis or randomised images on top of the face. This step can also replace blurring and save the āoriginalā look of your image.
Image Scrubber: This is a very simple tool that you can use both on PC and on your phone. This will also let you delete EXIF data before working with the picture.
Signal: This app securely encrypts your messages so they cannot be tracked, thus making it a great app for communication during protests. It recently added a feature where you can also blur out faces by either allowing the app to do it automatically or draw over things manually.
Facepixelizer: Another great tool similar to Image Scrubber, although it doesnāt let you delete the EXIF data. Works only within your browser and never sends images over network.
Important: Always remember to delete EXIF data - it can be done by right-clicking on the picture, and in Properties/Details click on āRemove Properties and Personal Informationā. However, doing so manually will not always remove all information, so I recommend the BatchPurifier Lite software. The safest way to keep all the information private is to screenshot the finished blurred picture and post the screenshot - that will always work 100% correctly. Always remember that if you donāt have Photoshop - simply drawing a black square over someoneās face is better than nothing.ā End id.]
Seconding thyrellās addition here, black boxes are generally better than blurringābut make sure youāre using an app that doesnāt save whatās underneath the black box, as well! I seem to recall Snapchat and Twittersā in-app image editors preserve the image under the stickers and marks.
One thing you can do to scrub some EXIF data is to take a screenshot of the image; that way, the imageās data will just be that of the screenshot instead of the photo as it was taken. Ultimately itās better to follow the advice laid out above just to get rid of everything, but in a pinch screenshotting is better than nothing. Make sure to crop out the top bar of your phone screen that displays the time and other info.
Additionally, it was shown in the tutorial but not really explainedācensor any other identifying visuals on the person, too! Tattoos are a big one, but also piercings, unique shirt designs or other clothing/accessories (remember that one story where the police tracked someone down based on a shirt theyād ordered off Etsy), etc. Ideally people should be going to protests with as few visual identifiers as possible, but in the event that these are visible, they should be censored as well.
