finally got around to watching the new TYBW episode and i liked it, the animation was pretty good (at least compared to the previous episode which was practically a goddamn slideshow), in my opinion they did kenpachi's bankai pretty good justice considering how long-awaited it was. mayuri's gonna be so pissed when he finds out he wasn't there to see and collect data on it

also i've been wondering for ages how the anime would handle hitsugaya's voice when he changes into his adult form, and now i have my answer! i think they did a good job with it, this other voice actor really manages to sound like hitsugaya, just older and deeper

also #2 lmao they kept the part where renji hits his arm when he and rukia get rescued by byakuya

also #3 really curious where there going with ukitake and mimihagi since what's going on with them is vastly different from the manga

also #4 SO BABY NOW YOU FEEL LIKE NUMBER ONE and damn this part is nicely animated

I ask if they're possibly planning on them selling them again in future? they say they can't tell me that.

on the way home, I encounter someone eating raspberries. I ask and they tell me that they grow their own, they got some seeds from the shop back in The Raspberry Days and kept them. They take me to a field of many beautiful raspberry plants and invite me to pick my own, they're free for all the town to pick whenever they'd like.

Hii again. I wanted to ask a slightly more elaborate question, but I couldn't think of how, so... What pieces about the fact that the spirit of Mayuri's zanpakuto is a representation of Jizo, a benevolent being? What do you think is the reason? I would even say it's ironic.

Btw, in the Hell arc it seems he no longer carries Ashisogi Jizo. I really miss the iconic way he carried his zanpakuto. WHERE ARE YOU, AJ?!!

i'm far from an expert of japanese culture but i think it's definitely meant to be ironic, maybe even to communicate what a messed-up and demented (and perhaps even outright heretical) character mayuri is by having his zanpakutou and bankai be a corrupted and perverted version of such a benevolent deity. i would really love to know what kubo had in mind when designing mayuri's zanpakutou/bankai, and why he specifically picked jizo of all things - i do know that he initially intended for mayuri to have a much more conventional villain role, so maybe he just tried to come up with the most messed up thing he could to really underline mayuri's villainy

as for the hell arc, maybe things have been peaceful for long enough that he doesn't feel he needs to carry his zanpakutou with him at all times? or maybe he's got it stashed up his sleeve! or maybe he's modified it to a point where it's not even an actual sword anymore 😨
