I don’t think the movie ever clarified it, but she gave him that amnesia intentionally to ensure he wouldn’t sabotage the mission (which he threatened to do, by the way). She was relying on there being two other people around to get him up to speed. And instead she finds out he was all alone, from the start, with no idea why, lacking the support he needed to save the world. Did she have a moment of thinking all those logs he sent wouldn’t contain the solution at all, but just be the diary of a spiraling man losing his mind in space?

Dr. Grace and Rocky’s bond is something that likely transcends baser human categories like “sexual” or “romantic”. so like… yeah. lmao. aroace grace not opening himself up all the way because he anticipates pain and wants to avoid that is a kind of protective hedging that i find very likely for him to engage in? even if he opens himself up to the people around him, the fact is that most of those people will only reciprocate to whatever degree they/society deem acceptable for friendship, even if they like him a lot.

So some fanartist drew a “sexy” (read: booby) version of a (cartoon) character who is traditionally very non-sexualised. Fans of the character got mad about it because it’s kind of groundbreaking how that character is written and portrayed and this art totally ignores the entire point of the character. They demanded the art be deleted. In response to that other people said, well what the fanartist did may be distateful but they have every right to draw what they’re into. The two sides fight for days and each starts a harassment campaign and even report their “opponents’” accounts.

So far so typical. But things eventually come to a head and they decide that this will be settled by votes - not through a poll. Through donations to a children’s education charity via each side’s portal. Whoever can get the highest amount of donation wins.

i think ryland would grow to understand stratt’s choice with time, and even thank her logic of it because it led to his meeting of rocky, but i dont think he’d ever really forgive her for what she did to him
