there’s just so much about the stress of living as a woman thats hard to explain to men beyond just like, the most explicit and overt sexism/misogyny. its like this tightly wound ball of all these behaviors and expectations and mannerisms that even most women are not consciously aware of half of them. you just get the feeling that something is not right, like it’s unfair. but you can’t explain why because it’s never simply just one thing or action done by another person- it’s that your whole life has always felt this way because the systematic dehumanization of women is so deeply insidious and invisible.

I’m sorry, but the logic that a rapist “won’t stop” because you’ve warned other people about their behavior so it’s meaningless to warn other people is so stupid. I think potential victims actually have a right to know about predators in their community. Lack of accountability is not an argument against warnings, it’s actually an argument for them.

A woman said it before me, but I do believe women are better at seperating fiction from reality than men are, and can actually. I ain't know why, but it literally continously proves itself to be true. I see it all the damn time, even with myself. Maybe it's cause men's fantasies are already encouraged and endorsed by reality (even the ones man perceives as defiant rely on patriarchal societies principles), while women's are starkly different and we are constantly reminded of that? We know we have actual fantasies, while men just fantasize about adjacent realities?

I’ve thought about that a bunch - I read the original post and it was specifically referring to violent self-written fiction - and I’ve come to the conclusion that the real distinction is that men are the ones committing the violence and abuse and women are the ones taking it. Every woman who says “men can strangle women if they want, you kink shamer!” is brainwashed; it’s just that she’s been brainwashed into taking violence and telling other women to take it, whereas men have been told “if you want to strangle a woman, great news! You live in a society that is eroticising that.”

Like I wonder if maybe these women have something else in common besides being rich? Maybe something like being in the public eye 24/7 and having 1000000000000 people a day comment on their bodies in public forums where everyone including them can see and hear it??

it cannot be stressed enough that conservative men do not conceptualize a woman who wants anything in a marriage besides "a man who provides." if he's a man with a job, he doesn't understand what more you would want. and because of that, a lot of men don't conceptualize a wife who is someone they like. she's just some lady. you invite some lady into your house forever to have kids and do all the work you don't want to do. you just want her to be compliant. the idea of, like, marrying someone funny and sexy does. not. compute. many people operate still with the idea that marriage is primarily a business transaction of sorts. this is why the upper rich still operate like old school nobility. they preach "old school values" but they cheat on each other constantly. because cheating is actually okay. getting caught is not. you cheat to be fulfilled, but your marriage must maintain an outward image. your wife is someone who represents your home like a business partner, you mistress is someone you enjoy sleeping with during your off hours. like you're never going to get these people to "get it". their paradigm is soooo wildly different.

If we can acknowledge that sexual assault is different than any other form of assault so much so that it requires its own name(rape), then we must understand that sex is different from any other action in society. This concept has to extend to jobs too meaning that sex work is inherently different from any other profession. This is the basis from which all anti porn and sex work arguments must stem.
