Honestly is crazy how much your looks change your perception in society. Not just on a romantic/sexual basis, but basic human respect and decency is something you are rarely given if you are truly unattractive. That’s why I roll my eyes whenever a radfem says something like “well IIIIII forego shaving and makeup or whatever and I’m not harassed about it, no one cares!”, like ma’am, that’s just proof that your looks arent offensive to the general populace even without doing all that exhausting crap. Your neighbour, the elderly woman you walk past on the street, the store clerk, etc., all these completely romantic or intrasexual competition unrelated examples are almost bound to treat some like dirt if they don’t perform some semblance of beauty rituals. Obviously not talking basic hygiene, that’s just that - hygiene, but beauty specifics, so shaving, being a certain size, skin, hair, clothing, even mannerisms on some. There’s also race and location privileges to take into account, as different standards hit different targets. It’s so tonedeaf when someone acts like life can’t become a lot easier for some as long as they participate in beauty culture. Self respect and wokeness means very little if you are physically harassed, assaulted or ostracised personally and professionally all because you don’t look a certain way.

Youaretoobased rarely missed. She was very blunt and combative (which is fine), and mostly very right. Her advice was amazing, devoid of catastrophizing, and, perhaps because of her neurodivergence, she had the ability to see things clearly without the fog of morals, virtues, values and emotions.
You're very right that looking a certain way will be an advantage. No way to get around it or cope about it. Being too attractive also becomes a disadvantage, but a stable middle ground where you don't provoke that almost instinctual backlash people have towards non-conformists and unattractive people will be advantageous.
Male politicians and public millionaires/billionaires have people to decide for them how they should look, dress and appear. They also can't stop getting plastic surgeries, which is a public secret. A lot of political campaigns are focused on these three features: a) aesthetics, b) authenticity that is entirely acted, paradoxically enough and c) humiliating and smearing the opponent.
It seems to me that the best advice, for yourself, is to notice what those in power and with money do. You can learn something from us middle classers or poor people if you're selective enough, but those at the top, even when they inherited their wealth, seem to understand far better what makes this world spin in its current form.
Or the other respectable option is to retreat from society entirely, or just go with the motions.
