Like it's bad when a "tattoo is undulating" (as opposed to... "drawn in a wave like pattern on the skin"?), or when hair is "wet wheat from a late Summer field" (as opposed to "sort of brownish light yellow that dries lighter, but is not actual wheat stalks growing on someone's head but kind of reminiscent of the color and texture"?), or when when ice cream tastes like midnight at the fair" (as opposed to "ice cream flavour bringing back memories of undefined ice cream flavours that are individually popular but always tied to a memory of late evening at the fair ground and probably smelling vaguely like popcorn and sugar"?).

And it pissed me off so badly that I spent the ENTIRE WORK DAY today compiling evidence from every project my team has ever done for her, pulling past emails she’d sent us, putting together an entire case proving that she had been the problem all along. That she got projects mixed up, that she’d made requests that were nonsensical, literally everything you could possibly imagine. Screenshots of emails, reports we’d submitted, EVERYTHING.

This woman in particular has been terrorizing my team for years, her name is almost a slur in my office, I had simply had ENOUGH of her.

I put all of this evidence together and sent it to all of my bosses at 4:30pm. Then I took a long break to eat a sweet treat and drink some tea.

After my break, my bosses all called in an emergency meeting with me and they said they read my report and fucking loved it. And I sat on a teams call with my boss’ boss as she wrote my nemesis the scathing email I had always fantasized about sending, using the evidence I’d compiled, and hit send.

I used to work as a cashier. I guess the biggest fuckup I could commit was give the wrong change back to the customer. Obviously, it's not ideal, it would come out of my paycheck, but that's all there is to it.

If you work in a storage, you might drop something and break it, not pleasant for the same reason as above, but that's it. You might do a bad job as a cleaner, accidentally kill a plant as a gardener, chop off the wrong chunk of a hair as a stylist.

Don't get me wrong, I'm NOT saying any of these jobs are easy, just that the consequences of a mistake are pretty straightforward.

In an office, I have only the faintest notion of how my job connects to hundreds of thousands of other departments, functions, tasks, and outputs.

I could send 40 tons of goods to a customer instead of 40 kgs because of a simple typo. I could issue a wrong invoice and cause tensions between our customers, our financial department and our sales team. I could put together an incorrect report and send it to 15 people to base their work on, generating problems that cost the company hundreds of work hours and thousands of dollars to fix. All by clicking one button.
