Many of today's interwebbers have not read My Immortal, which is probably why it has a reputation as The Worst Fanfic even though I've always thought it was a parody. I doubted myself for a while because so many people then and now are convinced it's just bad, but it's no too good. This is too perfect, right from the famous opening line where her Goth Mary-Sue name is so exquisitely over the top and flows so well despite the author's supposed borderline illiteracy elsewhere. "Limpid tears" is an ideal choice in an era of cerulean orbs and alabaster skin. See how I've immediately started on a little Lit Crit study of the language use in it? It has the kind of wordplay wit we see in the greatest crack fics. Chef's kiss, as we say these days.
