This month, we’ll be focusing on Alternate Universe stories. We voted in the SBMC server for what comics to read and this is what y’all ended up choosing!

Both fan favorites, Gotham by Gaslight is the first official DC Elseworlds comic! It features Batman in the Victorian era tracking down Jack the Ripper. Superman Smashes the Klan is based on an arc of the Superman radio show! Set in the 1950s, it follows an early-career Superman and a Chinese-American family as they both must deal with the Klan of the Fiery Cross.

Additionally, we’ve chosen two films that give our American icons completely different cultural backgrounds. This is Superman and Batman, but not Clark Kent or Bruce Wayne! We’ll be streaming both in the server sometime this month.

Finally, we picked out two alternate universe pre-crisis stories as bonus reads!

Detective Comics (1937) #500: To Kill A Legend

They ask us would Superman be happier on Earth or Krypton while married to Lana Lang or Lois Lane? And would Batman still exist if Thomas and Martha Wayne hadn’t died? Fun and quick stories exploring what would happen if the characters we know so well diverged from their typical canon constraints.

I really really enjoyed working in this zine/piece, especially rendering her armour and adding the graffiti on the wall behind her <3
