Did New History retcon Jason's resurrection to resemble the movie's abbreviated version?
The short answer is: Mark Waid can kiss my ass.
The long answer is: Probably not.
Now, I would like to first and foremost remind everybody that this is an in-universe character speaking for this part. It's Barry! And Barry is a guy who is going to have things that he is not going to fucking know, yeah? lots of things he's not exactly privy to especially when learning a lot of it in retrospect. He's not omniscient, even if he was part of the speedforce at the time or in heaven, his attention was likely and reasonably not focused on Bat-Drama.
This is how I imagine everyone in-universe thinks it went, but within this same issue we have two things that indicate it may likely be otherwise. First, Superboy Prime's appearance:
The whooole thing of like, the things depicted in the shards on previous iterations and at least partly with this one, is that it depicts the things the SBP changed in the timeline. Memories that were erased being restored, retcons nudged where they wanted it, and, of course, Jason's "death" somewhat undone in a bit of a delayed resurrection.
Next, in the timeline section:
I think this is a rather poor choice of wording here but at no point ever has the Lazarus Pit done anything "slowly." Not in pre-Crisis, not in post-Crisis, not in New 52, and not in anything more current than that. ALSO notable is the fact that this panel is from before Jason was Lazarus'd in Lost Days. Like, you cannot separate the fact that if you rec this specific issue, if people go back and read it then they will see this is pre-Lazarus.
"But wait," you say, "that screenshot refers to her recovering Jason's body, and not just him."
Yes, thank you for being so observant. For this next part I'm going to need to cite a few things from outside of New History to complete my explanation, which borders a little closer into theory, I will admit.
Red Hood and the Outlaws (2011) #2
It's established in multiple parts of DC canon that it is possible to exist and be a body without a soul. With this, it's likely that SBP's punch resurrected Jason's Body, as per usual, but his soul was not present until after he was put in the Pit. Which would, to at least some extent, explain the ill-phrasing of the guy writing the timeline section.
Talia's role in Jason's story is inherently one of support and love, and trying to find a way to help someone you care about. Stripping that care from the story is rather negative for Talia as a character, and implies a lot of racist "exotic" villainess things that Talia fans have been fighting back against for years.
While I would generally say that you can claw this being canon from my cold, dead hands, I also just genuinely don't think that this truly retcons the original course of events. There's a lot of ground for New History to cover and they gloss over a Lot of details. As this is comics, it's just as important to look at the art and what that tells you about the story as it is to look at the words. And the art here suggests that Jason was Still resurrected by Superboy Prime's punch, nursed back to health by Talia, then dunked in the Lazarus Pit.
