Hi!! I wanted to tell you that I love all your Devil May Cry fanfics and I've read them all! I love how you write Nero, Dante, and Vergil!
And one of my favorite fanfics is Young Justice x DMC!! I love how everyone is worried about Nero! And how they're the best!
But I have to admit that one part in particular has been giving me ideas, and it's the part where Megan reveals that Vergil has no mental defenses, and since she tends to be more extreme in the second season, I couldn't help but think…
And a divergent canon where they can't manipulate her into destroying Vergil's mind because the simple fact that they showed he hasn't changed, and not wanting Nero to know, she makes sure to find a good moment when he's alone to try to destroy his mind and leave him in a vegetative state.
And then Yamato reacts by protecting his master, taking him somewhere else before Megan can do irreparable damage!!
(Sorry if I'm being inconvenient, but this idea has been bothering me ever since I finished your FanFic!)
Omg thank you so much!!! I’m so glad you enjoyed!! Devil’s in the Details has been so much fun to write and im glad people had fun reading it to!
In terms of M’gann targeting Vergil’s mental defenses, that would definitely be a challenge for both of them. One because of how paranoid Vergil is, the chances of him letting his guard down around someone he knows is capable of getting into his head are very low. And two because he knows Nero’s friends HATE him, he’d try to avoid them at all cost.
But also, M’gann and Nero are very close friends. Nero asked her not to hurt Vergil, and she wanted to respect that because he’s always been very kind to her in ways she hadn’t expected when they were younger (similar trauma!!).
But! In a situation where it turned out Vergil hadn’t changed, and was still up to shenanigans, she’d definitely have to work fast if she wanted to take him out before say, Dante decided to take matters into his own hands.
Ough, her relationship with Nero would completely fall apart too. If she did attack Vergil, she’d have to be okay with the fallout of betraying one of her closest friends and all that entails. Which in Nero’s case, would be one hell of a fight. And those two going at it would be rough for everyone, especially if we take into account M’gann’s weakness to fire and Nero’s giant flaming sword he swings around.
I very specifically toned down some of her extremes in Speak of the Devil because she’s had 5 years to grow as a person, and, again, she and Nero are close. She’s also very close with Kyrie. They were there to temper her bad habits as they grew in a way that the rest of the team didn’t. Nero took on a protector role for everyone there early on for a reason (Dad shaped). Despite his gestures vaguely everything, he’s a decent role model cause he understands when he goes too far, especially as an adult. So he’d be able to drag M’gann back from the edge she was dangerously close to.
But, it definitely is fun to think about what could’ve happened with several telepaths around and Vergil’s general lack of defense against them! I don’t think M’gann would succeed in breaking his mind, but if she tried, it would go…very very poorly for everyone.
Thank you so much for the ask! It was fun!
