Hey. Why isn’t the moon landing a national holiday in the US. Isn’t that fucked up? Does anyone else think that’s absurd?

It was a huge milestone of scientific and technological advancement. (Plus, at the time, politically significant). Humanity went to space! We set foot on a celestial body that was not earth for the first time in human history! That’s a big deal! I’ve never thought about it before but now that I have, it’s ridiculous to me that that’s not part of our everyday lives and the public consciousness anymore. Why don’t we have a public holiday and a family barbecue about it. Why have I never seen the original broadcast of the moon landing? It should be all over the news every year!

Seeing the diminishment and erasure of the legacy of Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern series occur in my actual lifetime is mind-boggling.

You've got people out here making youtube videos about the legacy of dragons and dragonriding in fantasy fiction without talking about the dragonriding Grand Master of SFF herself Anne McCaffrey.

This isn't some obscure thing where I'm trying to promote someone who is only kind of known because of forgotten representation. Anne McCaffrey was A HOUSEHOLD NAME when I was a kid when it comes to fantasy literature. She's the first woman to win a Hugo and to win a Nebula. In 2002 there was a TV pilot filmed for Dragonriders of Pern.

Eragon, Temeraire, Toothless, and the dragons of Fourth Wing exist because these people grew up on the blueprint set by the Pern novels. Talking about dragons and not mentioning Pern is like talking about Orcs and not mentioning Lord of the Rings.

Y'all need to read your fucking classics before you go talking like an authority on a topic. Jesus Christ.

One of my favorite things about hypnosis is how safe it can feel. There is something incredibly comforting about reaching that place where all the walls come down. No more pretending, no guarding myself. No constantly watching for danger. Just existing in a state of complete trust and vulnerability with someone who genuinely cares about me enough to let me just float in that state where there is no more overthinking, where that chain of that feral beast I keep locked away is being domesticated by them giving it care. Giving it a new way to enjoy something. A comforting thought, a trigger that makes it smile. A little piece of happiness tucked away in my mind for later.

The best hypnosis has always felt personal to me. Not generic or scripted and I think there is no one-size-fits-all. The feeling that someone has taken the time to understand who I am, how I think, what I enjoy, what makes me feel safe, and then built an experience specifically for me.

I love when a hypnotist uses details that belong to me. My interests, my memories or my favorite imagery or just places that feels meaningful. It makes the experience feel less like following instructions and more like being invited into a world designed with me in mind. Knowing that the person guiding me sees me as an individual rather than just another subject. That they care enough to make the experience uniquely mine.
