Unfortunately, thanks to my fluffiest boye needing that emergency treatment a little while ago, I've not really been able to recover my finances. Even though I did my absolutely best for all of July and almost all of June trying to not need help.
Monthly storage of all our earthly possessions and bills is now coming in at a sweet sweet Ā£520 a month. I have about Ā£64 in my account left as we speak, and that'll be going down by Ā£50 in the next few days as the phone bills come out. What my USA followers would know as social security just barely covers this, and NOT in a timely fashion, leaving me gaps like this where I have basically no money for necessities for weeks at a time.
This isn't even mentioning that we need to scrape together enough for a deposit for a new place, since the current estate agent & landlord situation has turned into a massive issue.
Honestly, I usually put together more of a cohesive overview for my help posts, but I'm honestly so goddamn tired these days. Very funny that my chronic fatigue housemate is looking at me going 'you're sleeping more that i do' but! i still can't get that checked out by my GP!! because!!!! i'm still homeless!!!!! and can't visit him!!!!! ahahahaha!!!!!

like the point is eurydice signs the contract so that she can survive. she's hungry and cold. and hades promises food, shelter, safety, even comfort. but she still doesn't get what she's after because it kills her. we submit to the capitalism machine because we need food, we need somewhere to lay our head in order to be people, but it strips away our personhood anyway.
(7/30/26) The Red Cross just declared the second US blood crisis in its history.
Summer sees both a drop off in donations and, at least for our trauma center, a spike in traumas. Trauma centers across the US are in danger of running out of blood for our trauma patients TODAY, which is very scary but, unlike much of the other scary national news coming across our screens these days, is something you can help fix immediately and directly.
We need ASAP donations of blood, for people to spread the word, and for manager types to help facilitate others' donations. All blood types are needed, but universal donor blood (type O) is especially dire.

While O- is the most dire need as it can be safely given to anyone in an emergency, all types are needed! Our emergent release blood is being pulled for patients who have a high chance of death if they don't get blood within the hour. Once they're stabilized, they can have their type confirmed and get blood of a specific, matching type released to them so that O- can go to the patients who need it most.
Canada is also in a blood shortage, not just the US. Even if you're not in the USA or Canada, maybe check locally, especially if it's summer where you are.
Any advice on where to donate blood so that you donate but your blood isn't sold to the hospital for a high fee but is also donated? It feels like a matter of principle.

Blood donation programs are very expensive. The cost of facilities, staffing, screening for infectious diseases, safely storing and handling blood, even the tubing. Itās all extremely, extremely expensive.
A majority of the American Red Crossā operating expenses, just over $2 billion, is also spent on collecting blood, according to its financial statements. Thatās about $139 million more than the revenue it collects from selling the blood.
