What one brings to a high-stakes break-in, Steve's not really sure. He has the tapes, with the few backups he'd managed to make between videos stashed safely away, just in case. He has a flashlight, a first aid kit, and cash in his wallet. The nail bat and baseball cap are both still in his car.
Good enough, he supposes. Though a hoodie probably wouldn't hurt.
He chucks pebbles at Robin's window when he gets to her house. She appears, wide-eyed, miming that she'll cut his head off if he doesn't stop.
Steve throws one more for good measure. He can practically hear Robin's annoyed squawk as he walks around to meet her at the door.
"Ready?" Steve whispers.
"No!" Robin hisses. "Dude, it's two in the morning. I fell asleep just wondering when you were gonna finally get here."
She's wearing pajamas. Steve snorts and pushes past her, tiptoeing up the stairs.
"What are we even doing?" Robin whisper-shouts, shutting the bedroom door behind them. "You never said!"
"Breaking and entering," Steve says. "Nothing we haven't done before."
"Oh my god," Robin says, pulling sweats from one of the piles of clothing on her carpet. Steve steals a black hoodie from the pile next to it and tugs it on. "Y'know, I should've guessed."
Steve fills her in on the specifics while she changes and shoves things into her pockets. A ski mask from the Canada trip. A bandana. A pair of the rubber gloves she uses to dye her hair.
Ohh. Fingerprints. That's smart. Steve holds his hand out for a pair, too.
She's dressed in all black now, pockets bulging. "Well?" she says. "Let's go save your dork-ass boyfriend."
