inspired by elements of the films 'moon' and 'interstellar' and the soft decay of 'yokohama kaidashi kikou'.

'susurrus' is a scifi comic that revolves around whisper, a lone warden of extraplanetary radio towers on an abandoned planet learning that you have to find your own reason to keep going, even when you get left behind.

i developed whisper after cutting off a toxic parent and then my other parents and siblings moved to the other side of the continent, leaving me with a desperate sense of aloneness only exacerbated by the quarantines of 2020. writing whisper's story was my way of finding hope and peace in that solitude.

I feel like a lot of people get "All Art is Political" confused with "All Art is made with Political Intentions" which is not the same.

Certainly, all art is political in that sense. For the sake of clear communication, though, I think it would be best to actually say the idea in full as "all art is affected by the political scene in which it was created" rather than "all art is political", or at least immediately follow that up with the full explanation. In common conversation, "political" is usually only used for things that explicitly reference politics, not things everything directly or indirectly affected by politics. Like, bumper stickers are all affected by politics the same way that art is, but if someone says they saw a "political bumper sticker" then we all assume it was one referencing a political party. Likewise, if someone says they got into a "political debate" then we usually assume they were discussing government policy it who to vote for. So naturally everyone will assume that "all art is political" means "all art explicitly references politics" because that's how people use the word "political" in most other contexts.

Again, I do agree that all art is affected by the political situation in which it is created, I just think that the phrase "all art is political" is confusing just because it goes against the common understanding of the word "political".

You may have heard of a rat king, but have you ever heard of a squirrel king? My local wildlife rescue just treated one. All six baby squirrels survived and are doing well. They all needed the tips of their tails amputated, but part of a tail is a small price to pay for being deposed royalty.
