The Island of Saint Michael

"It's kind of fun to do the impossible"
This is a fancomic project, mashing up some of Disney's animated films into a single story, all set in a Brazilian island off the coast of Rio de Janeiro (the state, not the city). It's a telenovela-like story, with drama, shocking twists, world-wrecking romance and far more rat-mouse political intrigue than you would expect.

The Dragon-Chosen Tarot

An illustration project, depicting my dragonborn OCs (collectivelly known as the Dragon-Chosen) in tarot card illustrations. The Major Arcana will showcase the major characters of the story, while the Minor Arcana depict some the events in their stories throught Skyrim.

An illustration project, depicting Hatsune Miku as she appears in some of her most famous songs. The drawings are done on paper cut out to look like a vinyl record, and I plan on doing some kind of binding at the end of it all, to make it seem like all of them could come as part of a booklet of a hypothetical "Hatsune Miku's Greatest Hits" album.

@dimiclaudeblaigan asked for a tutorial on how to begin drawing. Good news! If you can draw a funky looking stick man, you have already started!
I think that stick people are a great starting point for artists because of the things you can learn from them that will be important later on.
If you are able to draw a circle and a couple of lines, you can easily put together a stick person.
Congratulations! You have started to draw. :)
A stick person is a very minimal artistic representation of a real life person. It is simple yet recognizable, and is widely used in art, media, and signage.
But what can a stick person teach us about drawing people that look more like… well, people? Lets have a look!
By simply adding a few more lines, we can add a pair of eyes and a mouth. Maybe even a little triangle nose! Or half circles for ears. We can now draw a face, which provides a basis for all sorts of expressions.
These simple additions can allow us to explore the wide range of human emotion and individuality.
This may seem like the basics of the basics. But that is what we want! In order to get to the point where we are able to draw complex, elaborate representations of humans and objects, we will need to start with simple shapes like lines and circles and build our understanding from there.
For instance, lets give our stick person some cool new features, such as hands and feet. I chose little squiggly circles to represent hands, and triangles to represent feet.
We can go a step further and modify the body of the stick person to include shoulders, hips, elbows and knees. These parts of the human body are quite complex in real life But here, all we need to do is add a few simple lines and dots to our stick person.
The lines provide some additional structural elements to our stick person's body, which are the shoulders and the hips. The dots indicate the points of articulation - elbows and knees, the places where the arms and legs bend!
Now we can use our stick person to show us an even wider range of human movement, action, and expression.
Our little drawing of a human being is evolving! All it took was adding a few more lines and shapes here and there.
By elongating some of the existing lines and making the head an oval instead of a circle, we can give our stick person proportions that resemble that of a real life human.
By this point, we have managed to add more complexity to our stick person simply by using our ability to draw lines, circles, and other basic shapes!
These basic ideas are the building blocks that will enable us to create more complex shapes.
The next part may be a considerable step up if you are absolutely new to drawing, but I have decided to include it in order to show you how complex objects like the human body can be built from shapes that are a bit more complex than circles and lines.
For example. Two ovals and a rectangle can be combined to create a cylinder.
Six squares can be combined to create a cube, or a box. Here, each square is distorted slightly depending on which way the cube is facing.
Note that the back faces of the cube and the bottom of the cylinder are hidden. These shapes allow us to visualize that which should not normally visible.
A sphere from all perspectives can be represented by a circle. But we can make it more like a sphere by adding lighting and shadow if we so desire.
Cubes, cylinders, and spheres are examples of 'solid shapes' because they consist of 3 dimensions.
Lets see how these solid shapes can be used to compose the human body.
By stacking three cylindrical objects, we can create a torso. Two spheres have been added to form shoulders, while a smaller cylinder forms the neck.
An arm is an alternating sequence of spheres and cylinders connected together. Note that the hand has been simplified for this example.
We can apply these solid shapes to the rest of the body to give us a more recognizable representation of the human form. It doesn't even have to be perfect. And just like that, our stick figure now has a silhouette that is unmistakably a person!
In the above examples, notice that we kept the stick person at the beginning while building up the shapes and solids around it. This is because the stick person serves as a guide for positioning the body and its various parts -> also known as posing.
You can do the same thing to everyday objects! Here, I drew a wine glass by stacking these three dimensional solid shapes.
The cup and its contents are two ovoid shapes that were cut in half. The stem is a very thin cylinder shape. The base is a cylinder with a slightly wider bottom.
Solid shapes help inform us how objects and parts of the human body may appear from different perspectives.
For example, a sphere can be used to demonstrate how the human head appears when looking up or down, turned to the side, or tilted at an angle.
With these examples, I hope I have managed to convinced you that if you can draw a circle and a couple of lines, you can draw a person! You just have to train your eye to recognize the simple shapes within complex objects. Try it with everyday objects as well! Or even your favourite media! A drawing subject can be as simple or as complex as you envision it to be.
Once you have mastered that, there are many aspects of drawing you can explore from here that may require you to seek additional resources or a fellow artist's advice.
Last of all, remember that drawing is an iterative process. Even if you draw something correct the first time, you will need to draw it again and again to get it right all times! And by making small changes like the ones we explored in this tutorial, your drawings will gradually transform!
I hope what I've demonstrated here are enough to provide the basics of how to get started with drawing objects and people, and also to help refresh more experienced artists. :) Hopefully I didn't go too off topic with what was requested, and let me know if there are any more questions I can answer.

Having experienced a lot of it in my 20s, I think some of the worst, pettiest, most straight up this-is-just-bullying-you're-passing-off-as-praxis incidences of Queer Infighting endemic to young people can be best understood as attempts to exercise power by people with very little power.
Like you're 22, you're queer, you've just become a Marxist, the scope of World Suck is overwhelming and you have $30 in your bank account. What can you do to feel like you have any power? Well, you can try to get your frenemy cancelled for cosplaying a character from a problematic show. You can write a public callout post over someone's obviously friendly use of a slur you don't think they technically have the right to reclaim. Doing this stuff can make you feel like you have power and your actions have an impact. Unfortunately the impact in question is a negative impact on other marginalized people. But that often takes some maturity and self-reflection to notice.
I'm reminded of this post from 2017. To paraphrase, OP took part in community service via their university and part of that was cleaning the bathrooms at the local homeless community centre, which would frequently get trashed, not because the homeless people using them disrespected the work of the people cleaning them but because they had so little control over other things that happened in their lives, and the bathroom was something they could affect.
This, too, is a trashed bathroom; young queer people living through hell and having precious little control over their circumstances or the world in which they exist can affect something by using the language of social justice as a cudgel on their would-be allies, as well as getting a brief feeling of power over someone else by doing it.
It's not worth it. Don't trash your community bathrooms.
i have some guesses but i’m curious to know why you dislike the term “paraphilia?” this is an earnest question i promise i’m not trying to do a “gotcha.” is it that it too strictly delineates “normal” and “abnormal” sex?
firstly, I have problems with the psychologist and sexologist who popularized the term (john money) for his own theories and their consequences, including beliefs that intersex infants must not be raised outside the gender binary and must be subjected to surgery. his advice to patients ended in suicide. his definition of paraphilia also doesn't hold much weight in my opinion--it encompasses everything from consensual bdsm to actual sex crimes. what use exactly is this category? not to mention the issues with "paraphilic disorders" in the DSM. are people experiencing depression and suicidal ideation because of the "paraphilia" alone, or because they're aware of the associated stigma? is it really a sign of mental instability to be greatly concerned with the way others perceive you and may treat you? these are common critiques of the topic brought up by professionals to question the validity of classified paraphilic disorders, not just me on tumblr.
basically, paraphilia as a concept ranges from "not useful" to "actively harmful", in my opinion.
so when I am talking about zoosadism or whatever I am simply specific and don't just say paraphilia.

Without fail, every time a woman is talking about how she does not want to have children and never wants to be pregnant and how medical professionals, romantic interests and family members keep trying to bulldoze her decision and keep expecting her to change her mind because motherhood is something that is expected of all women and it is abhorrent to think a woman could not desire it, a random mother spawns in the comments to be like “Well, actually, you never know! I didn’t want children and then I got pregnant and I realized I love being a mama and I have five little babies now! Could happen to you! 🥰”
Sister, keep that to yourself or make your own goddamn post, you are ignoring that woman’s central concern and belittling her, you don’t even think you’re doing it. Formerly childfree women who ended up having children and loving it are like detransitioners in the sense that there is nothing inherently wrong with changing your mind about having children or realizing you were mistaken about your gender identity but immediately weaponizing your indecision to tell people that the barriers to healthcare and the violations of their bodily autonomy and the way society ignores that person’s wishes is actually okay because you were wrong. Some people do know themselves.

Had a sort-of nightmare last night about being in a shitty YA novel universe but I couldn't get scared because I kept halting the plot to criticise the worldbuilding.
Reminds me of a nightmare I had recently where I thought ‘at least the cinematography is good, I wonder who the director is?’ and then the credits suddenly rolled and it was just my name in all the roles. I laughed so hard I woke my self up laughing
Why would you want to hear out creationists on any issue whatsoever
Not specific to young earth creationists, but I like to talk to people who are wrong about things because if I can understand what led them to their conclusions and how their misconceptions are maintained then I can deconstruct the process and find better ways of communicating with them.
I can also better understand where other people who hold the same beliefs are coming from when I encounter them later on.
This makes it easier to correct incorrect information without coming off as belligerent or condescending, helps me understand functions and behaviours of the society I’m living in, and bridges gaps between people of different views that wouldn’t otherwise interact.
I’ll read articles written by transphobes and racists and Holocaust deniers and climate change deniers and hardcore fundamentalists, too. Because I know they’re wrong and I’m interested in how they operate- in where they get their misconceptions, and where the weak points in their arguments are, and what their actual goals and desires point to.
What I’ve learned is that no matter how different from mine someone’s views are, no matter how repulsive or bizarre or provably wrong their beliefs are, we all essentially want the same things: a prosperous future for our children, a safe environment to live in, and an easy supply of food, shelter, and medical aid.
If you can understand what people want, you can find ways of bypassing their dangerous and harmful plans for getting there by appealing to their practicality regardless of morality. And if their idea of practicality is different from mine, I can plan around that to get them there anyways.
People often don’t change beliefs tied to strong emotions even when presented with new evidence. If you want them to change their beliefs, you need to find their information source, understand their thought pattern, and then meet them on their level in a way that they can see as respectful and noncombative.
And even if the goal isn’t to change their mind, on places like social media, conversations can educate the audience too.
Plus, it plants the seed in their head that not everyone who disagrees with them is dangerous, or inflammatory, or rude. Maybe that’s what they need to know to start feeling safe venturing outside their echo chamber and seeing how the rest of the world works. Maybe they’ll see it’s not all as nefarious and scary as they’ve been led to believe. And that’s the first step for all of us, really.
I’m not afraid of consuming media that is wrong or holds harmful messages because I know it’s not correct, and I am firm in my own sense of morality, and I want to know how people who produce those messages exist.
It can also help me find flaws in my own reasoning, correct my own misconceptions, analyze and improve who I am and what I believe.
Also. It’s just kind of fascinating. Sometimes fascinating like an old science textbook, sometimes fascinating like a train wreck, but still fascinating.
Everything has value, my guy. Sometimes you just have to put the legwork in.
