Where’s that one post that’s like Reasons Why My Wife Cried This Week and when are we gonna get a fanfic of that but Ryland Grace.
Reasons my human has cried:
* New student, very small. Grace said it was pebble. Pebble is small Earth rock. Pebble likes name.
* He found out Eridians have no gender rules.
* Students brought him mineral sample. After he stopped crying he said he loves show-and-tell game. Human naming conventions oddly literal.
* I told him Earthsun grew bright.
* I took him up atop atmosphere bypass elevator to look at stars.
* He woke up from nap and found me still with him. I did not wait on his chest; he says I am heavy like “elephant” and he “couldn’t breathe.” I laid my arm over him instead, kept him close, feeling safe. He said “cuddle” was warm.
* Before class he heard younglings singing.
* He has plants in house from sprouts on ship. Plant grew “bud.”
* Engineers got seawater temperature right. He took off shoes and stood in water, sighing. He didn’t care about pants getting damp. Cried until shirt was also damp. Humans very endlessly wet.
* He missed “Doritos.”
* Adrian helped food scientists make taumoeba dried paste. Made it crunchy after heating. We fused it into triangle form. Told him it was Tauritos. That made him laugh-cry. Laugh-cry is rare and precious.
* He remembered Eridians have no gender rules.
* We made him celebration outfit. Used metals he calls pretty. He can see frequencies named “colorful” and “shiny.” These make humans happiest.
* I gave him hug when he wasn’t expecting it. Easier to hug close now with exosuit. Hug when Grace sitting down so he does not fall over.
* Told him to think long time, stay with me as long as he can.
Reenactor throws a spear at a drone
What a time to be alive.
“The medieval warrior, realizing the consequences of his impulsive act, immediately approached the owner of the drone and offered to pay for the damage.
The owner of the drone was so impressed by the brilliant attack that he suggested organizing a competition for bringing down “dragons” with short spears next year.
Drone owners have another year to develop a unique “dragon-like” design for their flying machines.” (x)
I am 100% cooler with this knowing that the spear-thrower realized “oops maybe I shouldn’t have done that” and tried to make it right, and that the guy who the drone belonged to was cool with it
just so everyone knows, this has already been memorialized in a runestone
Everything about this post blesses those involved with a +4 on their next Today is Good Day roll
a rough translation of inscription on the runestone:
On the seventh day of May in the year of 2016 on hither spot the mighty warrior Ulf hath slain a dragon with his spear.
so yeah, happy birthday to this dragon-slaying event and to it only
Happy Ulf Hath Slain A Dragon With His Spear!
tbh a lot of my advice boils down to “hey you know that terrible horrible looming thing you’re doing your best to avoid and distract and escape as much as possible but no matter what you do it just keeps looming and looming and ruining your life”
“just, fuckign, run straight at it screaming.”
i needed this as a background

Pleiades
I close my eyes. I enter my Mathemagical Mind Palace. I see the object before me. I'm working out the differential equations. The derivative of the function with respect to time is equal to a constant times the second derivative of the function with respect to distance from the origin. A billion vectors rendered in with ray-tracing. I see the phase portrait. I see the three-dimensional manifold in a four-dimensional space. The shadows on the wall and the ancient beings who make the shadows. I peer into the amethyst eyes of the unyielding serpent. I have done my calculation.
Out of the suggested cooking time of "18 to 20 minutes", I will be cooking this pizza for: 19 minutes.
As an introvert and someone who's very obsessed with their creative side, writing, I naturally hate socializing. But not in the way one would expect.
I hate the aftermath of socializing. The way it creates this loud, dopamine-filled, confusing, blurry static in my brain. I despise it. I despise anything that fucks with my brain.
Whenever I'm interacting with someone, I don't receive new ideas. I hate how I have to sit at the end of the day for at least an hour to pull myself back from the hormonal brain rot I've gone through. Because I don't live in a creative community, I live in a capitalistic one where everyone's dream is to have a good job and a good marriage.
It's suffocating. It gets to my brain easily. Distracts me from what I want to focus on.
That's why I hate socializing. Because people don't inspire me, they distract me.

this is the happiest day of my life
Too soon
65 million years…
Don’t worry, guys. Carl is clearly a brachiosaurus, which lived during the Jurassic period. (And before anyone says our lil’ boy Steve is a velociraptor and therefore puts our comic in the late cretaceous, aka the time of the comet–that lil guy could easily be a compsognathus or a caudipteryx, both Jurassic-era species of small theropod dinosaurs. So the light getting bigger every night is going to pass by harmlessly, and Steve and Carl can go on enjoying the stars together until they die of old age, since Carl has very few natural predators at his size and I bet he’ll protect Steve, if he needs it (though small, fast and carnivorous as Steve is, he probably won’t).
So it’s all good!!
That entire response explaining how these two characters didn’t die a fiery death but instead lived long and happy lives literally made my day.
I was ready to be heartbroken again. Thank you for making it happy after all.

hello beloveds ☺️
made an alternate version for the mutuals ive never spoken to
You are appreciated
guys i have never wanted any online food as bad as i want that baja blast pie. that thing looks like a bouncy castle for my teeth. gonna get jaw muscles strong enough to chew through trees. the kind of jawline normally associated with korean plastic surgery victims. enough collagen coursing through my veins to give me 24 hours as a flubber golem. monkey d. luffy if he could do long division. i would be an invincible god and all would know this and tremble.
unfortunately, it removes from your brain the ability to do long division
i think there is a 25% chance at best that the ability to do long division is stored in my brain. probably in my eyes by now or my hands or somewhere like that. math only stays in the brain a little while anyway, once you get it 4realsies it just kind of hangs in your guts. your math organ. your blAdder. your sineuses. someone kill me before i keep going.

As someone who failed calculus three times, physics 1 once, vector calc once, and ochem twice: failure will only push you to work harder. a hard class genuinely is difficult, and not everyone will get it on the first try. as long as it doesn't impact your degree path too greatly, it should work out okay! trust!

This year, there are no fewer than 5 separate planned missions to the moon by various space agencies and companies. This number is expected to increase each year, and it seems that they are all based on a single goal: to establish infrastructure on the moon. Artemis II, the NASA mission completed earlier this April, is merely part two of a six-part mission which aims to start bringing the modules for a semi-permanent moon base by 2028. China's Chang-e mission seems to be similar, with Chang-e 7 launching in August with equipment to do spectrography of lunar ice, and Chang-e 8 planned for 2028 to see if bricks can be constructed out of moon regolith. India has their Chandrayaan-4 mission set for October 2027 to 2028, meant to collect samples from the Lunar South Pole. Europe's Starlight program to bring communications satellites into Lunar orbit are set to start later this year, as well, with the goal to be to set up full communications and navigation satellites by 2028.
We made it, folks.
