everything about the clonesβ existence makes me so unwell. itβs like. you are a copy of a man who is a killer but he is also a father and he is whip-smart and tough but heβs a simple man and he asks for one thing when he agrees to be cloned and itβs a son. and you grow up to look just like this man but you are not his son you are his paycheck
itβs like you are not his son but you are just like his son in every possible way except that they put a chip in your brain to make you behave and they make you grow up fast so you can fight in a war that is the only reason for your existence (except thereβs a second reason, but itβs too horrible to imagine and you wonβt know it until itβs too late) so you are everything like this son but you are also nothing like him because he is a child and you never got to be one
itβs like youβre a ghost in a machine and an immaculate conception and a sleeper agent and a greek tragedy and a gothic double and a weapon and a best friend but above all youβre a good soldier and you have your fatherβs eyes
